I worded my point poorly. US pool does have terms for check and running, maybe several, I've forgotten what they are.As for inside/outside English Vs check/running side, I'd say the latter is more of an apt description than the former, but then again, I am biased lol.
But I've never come across equivalent terms for inside and outside english in the snooker world (commentary and instruction). FWIW, both outside and inside english can result in either check or running side.
And don't get me started on squirt, throw and kicks.
