Gold Rush TV Show vs Pool TV Show

I was watching Gold Rush the other night and they said they had a camera crew of 100 in South America. Now I don't have a clue how much that cost, but it must cost a small fortune to produce that show. Most likely a pool show like a new hustle each episode with a few pool hustlers pulling them would cost about 10% of that. I can't believe someone can't write and produce a pool show very easily that would get on TV. Hell there are members on here that could send in enough of there hustling stories to keep the show on forever. They could even start each show with, "Don't try this in your local poolroom or sports bar." Have someone do a cool trick shot at the start or end of each episode, and show them how to set it up and hit it. Johnnyt

The big difference is, we don't make gold! :grin-square:

In fact, we hardly make anything at all… :o

The show will be about broken people trying to survive, not a very bright image about pool.. :sorry:

Johnny all in time pal.... If it becomes a success, then you might have a huge camera crew. Gold rush is very successful, but started off small.

The dream of striking it rich with gold has been alive since the 1800's and we can all relate because of the history we read about as youngsters in school. There is a common interest there. The masses would not want to watch some dirtbag "steal" from some unsuspecting mark. Furthermore, is that the image that is going to propel pool into mainstream media? I think not.

Great Post...........Sounds like a good name for the show " Dirtbags." LOL

There are many more players that gamble on pool that do so with class and act like ladies and gentlemen win or lose. All you read about or think about are the ones that don't. Johnnyt

Don't see it happening anytime soon.

Plus most "reality" shows come off as so scripted it would just make me cringe to see it done to a pool show.

http://www.youtube.com/user/scamschool/videos - They have some pool vids on their channel.

Youtube would be the place for something like this though. I doubt any network would even think about funding a pool reality show.

There lies the problem. Because of the stereotype and gambling, no production company will have a desire to put such a series on mainstream TV.
