So a miss counts as a BIH?
So if I miss and need BIH after that counts as 2 correct?

crazy drill!
I think it's too hard, at least on a 8ft table, lots of clusters, I had to make some really difficult combination shots... there is no human making 10, and I think most of the real pros would get an A in general. Maybe 6 balls in hand (or do not count the starting one) and a little wider ranges would be more realistic. Just my point of view.
A lot of fun - I had 29 (8 in the first 5 racks and 21 in the last 5) Argh!
I can post the video if anyone is interested.
I will likely take another run at this tonight

First off I apologize if something like this already exists. I just thought of it tonight, and haven't actually tried it out yet. I do think it would be a fun practice game, and the ratings seem like they would be accurate, but I'm willing to make adjustments if needed.
Having 5 ball in hands per rack might make it seem easy, but the beauty of it is that it's not just about getting out. It's about getting out with the least number of ball in hands, and having the option to take 5 just makes it more accessible to the majority of us that have no shot against the 15 ball ghost.
Rules:
1. Rack all 15 balls (1 at the top, 15 in the middle, 2 and 3 on the corners).
2. Break
3. Take ball in hand anywhere on the table, and try to run out.
4. You are allowed up to 5 ball in hands per rack.
5. If you scratch on the break, you lose a ball in hand (so only 4 per rack).
6. Play a total of 10 racks.
7. Your score is determined by the total # of ball in hands you take after all 10 racks.
8. If you don’t manage to get out in a rack, then your score for that rack is 6.
9. An illegal hit counts against you in the form of a usage of ball in hand. So if you were you to not hit the lowest numbered ball in order to break up a cluster, and then took ball in hand, that would count as 2 ball in hands.
10. If you scratch, that counts as a ball in hand. However, you can choose to take ball in hand in the kitchen afterwards, and that won't count as a ball in hand. This also applies to scratches on the break. If the lowest numbered ball is in the kitchen, it gets spotted.
11. If you make an illegal hit, and scratch. The secondary shot will count as ball in hand. So 2 ball in hands.
12. A miss counts as a ball in hand.

I think the scratch should just go in the miss catagory and forget about kitchen rules, that'll just boil down to luck of where the next ball is.
I don't really understand the miss is a ball in hand? If I miss the 6 ball I should simply HAVE to take ball in hand on the next shot so now I would have taken 2 BIHs correct? Or are you saying; I miss, that's a ball in hand and I can shoot from there? I like miss, forced bih otherwise again, its just lucky if I miss good and have a shot it 1 bih if I don't have shot its 2 bihs?
I think I like have to hit lowest numbered ball rule or that's an additional bih.
I'm a lil busy next couple days (who am I kiddin, next 6 months lol) but I'll try to get a video of 10 racks.

It was fun - need some solid breaks for this drill.
Ok, how about this (think of ball in hand as a foul)
Any miss on a legal hit is 1 foul, and player has the option of taking ball in hand after the miss for a maximum of 2 fouls.
All scratches (CB in pocket, CB off table, or OB off table) only counts as 1 foul which is the ball in hand taken after the scratch. If the OB is knocked off the table, it gets spotted.
An illegal hit (not hitting lowest ball first) is automatic 2 fouls. 1 for the illegal hit, and 1 for forced ball in hand afterwards.
Does that work?
And thanks everyone for helping me iron out the details, and making this work (hopefully)![]()

Not pretty, especially at the beginning. If I had a shot at the 1 ball I didn't take BIH immediately after the break. If I missed a shot I took a forced BIH, I think I took 20 BIHs.
Tough drill that reminds me of WHY I used to do all that mental practice, lol
Sorry for the crooked camara angle lol hasn't been up for a while?

So is a miss 2 fouls or 1?
If I miss and then take BIH - is that 1 or 2?
