John Barton Thread

I am sending the case to ridethewind

i like loyalty
if he/she doesn't need a simple little case
pick some kid and i ship to him

dom .your thoughts on the subject don't entitle you to have your way
of all the people only you showed a mean spirit

I think you made the right choice.

To Dom Poppa... Truth told, I also failed to catch the contest part of the OP. As my wife often says, "Read ALL the words, Danny". If I wanted to win don't you think I'd have come up with a more compelling story? I wouldn't have taken it anyway. I was serious about using a Players cue. Putting my cue in one of John's cases would be like putting a sow's ear in a silk purse. So, think what you like, I think we all just stood up for a guy who gets more than his fair share of undeserved grief from members such as yourself.

Is that what that one is called? John showed me a similar case and I fell in love with the elegant simplicity of it. Yes, I too would have bought it on the spot if I wasn't so broke. Then I would have bought a stunning Josh Treadway cue I had my eye on and placed it inside. If wishes were horses... (sigh)

Yep...those are the History cases, and very very limited, is my understanding. But sooo very cool!

Thanks so much, Dean! PM has been sent.

Honestly...there were some really great stories about John shared here, and Dean should be applauded for starting the thread. It's always nice to hear nice things about John, instead of the normal attacks that usually find their way into threads concerning John.

For the record, I would have still made the comments I did...so nothing was 'bought' by this impromptu contest. Good people deserve to have good things said about them....kinda a no-brainer.

I wasn't expecting anything more than just that, Dean. Thank you again!

he said there are about 10 right now.

The reason I stated limited, was because the last time I heard, the available supply of the tubes required to make this case is limited. So, grab one of these beauties while you can!

Are you all sure you're talking about me? Can't be the same guy.

Thanks Dean for doing this you are too much. I could never come to Dallas without visiting with you. You inject much needed wisdom and reality into my fanciful mind.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and I hope that I can earn them.

Happy New Year!!!

P.S. I will be on an extended tour of the USA starting soon and will be looking forward to meeting many of you in person.

I might be giving you a shout here in a couple days to talk about some cases to raffle off for the next college tournament I hold.

I will DEFINITELY be coming to Phoenix. After my lessons in Dallas I will give you the senior citizen special on modern aiming methods. :-)

Happy New Year SJD!

deanoc,

Please don't include me in the hunt for a 1 x 2 case. I am responding to your thread because of recent reflection on a quote by George Fels: "I now know what a lousy idea it is to take people you like for granted."

I met John quite a while back. He passed through New Orleans as he was traveling across the country selling some of his Instroke cases. Yes, that was a while back. I wasn't in the market for a cue case at the time but that didn't stop John from spending some quality time with me. We hung out together playing pool, sharing stories and enjoying each others company.

I too have enjoyed his posts on AZ Billiards. I don't have the desire to respond to my small group of haters so for the most part, I don't. John seems to be kind enough to indulge all.

John is one of those guys who leads by example and a good example it is. He has always been involved with sponsoring pool players, offering a helping hand to those in need.

I have always admired people who on their own, set sail for uncharted waters and John has done this and succeeded with just about everything he has attempted to do. You can just look at his family and see that they are quite the happy family.

Thanks for starting this thread about one of the good guys in pool.

both of you two are opinionated and cause conflicts. this is good and i am glad you guys are here. life is too short to be boring.

Post

I had some questions about cases and John went above and beyond to help, I'd tell ya the rest of the story but no one would believe me if I told you all so I won't go down that road.
