Or???

I made the resolution to go from a 7 speed to an 8 speed by the end of the year. more practice and maybe taking a lesson or two. along with getting into better shape. I am looking forward to it.

I made a resolution to join an APA team.

I just want to play in a league where everyone plays it straight with no sandbagging and where the league is drama free and people never complain.

I want to learn how to play 9b. :(

Come out to Des Moines and I will teach you $5 a game, but do me a favor...wait 6 months before you come so I can learn how to play first. I am going to be playing in a double jeopardy starting next week for APA so will get some practice at it.

Deal!

I may need a spot, though. What does a 4 go to again?

Edit: I could use some 8b lessons, too. :grin-devilish:

Mine was no negative posts in all of January. I think I've broken it already. As dear old Vincent said, "It's tough to lay down".

Haha...4 my ass. I am technically a 7 since I haven't played 9 ball APA in 11 years....they are taking bets to see how long it will be before I move up to an 8 or 9. I already got one facebook message from a buddying calling bullsht on my handicap and the session hasn't even started yet lol.

As for 8 ball now were talking! That, bar box banks and Honolulu are my best games.

I look at resolutions as something people make to feel good about themselves for the two weeks they last. So instead I set myself some concrete goals.

In APA 8-ball, finish in the top 5 of my tier and win 60% or more of my matches. Possibly move up in level.

Play more 9- and 10-ball, join a 9-ball team.

Keep running my monthly tournaments. Try to find a better location, and raise money (not my own) to buy better equipment and giveaways.

You're in the Midwest, so I get some kind of spot, right? I checked out tickets.. they're about $300. Maybe I'll swing out there when Rhea's in town!

Barbox 8 and barbox banks? It's on! Diamonds or Valleys?

Yes, kick ass. No matter the league or the tournament. If I get beat, assess my game and work harder.

True, but that doesn't mean I got skillz....been retired for 3 years and just now getting ready to start playing again (to possibly play in a no masters tourney a week from tomorrow). I play on both types of tables, but prefer diamonds if available. 1st beer is on me. If Rhea comes into town there will be plenty of action for her to match up.

To keep on track for the actual game I want to do the following:

Fix my stance
Make my break stronger
More B&Rs and less safety games
More 2-3 packs
Get back to 2002-2003 form for shooting
Tolerate wife while playing pool with her (and to be patient)

My next cue purchase will be a big one........minimum outlay will be $4000.....
but probably $5k is more realistic......have a few cue-makers in mind and
that's what it takes to get one of these masterpiece cues. But I still have to
pay off a custom in 2 months so it isn't going to happen until 3rd or 4th qtr.
but definitely this year if I can locate what I want in the cue's design & specs.

I set three goals for myself this year.

1. No more barboxes for competition, only 9 footers. Barboxes will be played on at a bar.

2. Get away from the 45 speed I'm rated now, and be closer to 90-100

3. Source a Gold Crown I, or II, and make it tournament worthy, then play the hell out of it :)

I really want to run a 3 pack in 9 ball. I've been playing for a short period of time( about 6 months now) and ran a 2 pack just a few weeks ago. Hopefully I'll exceed my goals and maybe run a 4 or maybe a 5 ;)

Did you get your information straight from the APA website? I think I just heard a can of worms being opened.

Seriously though, I'm a big fan of league play and I wish you the best and hope you keep your optimistic attitude.

If your post was sarcastic…good one:grin-square:
