Bonus Ball Playoffs ******

Interesting. Bob played Hockey.

Must be Canadian and from Winterpeg also.

I heard that the Blue Bombers were going to play Hockey next year, cause they can't play Football.

The good news is they have only one way to go, any chance the Riders can lend them a couple players?

Just teasin ya anyway Bob. You know the friendly Regina, Winnipeg rivalry.

Funny that you knew I was from Regina tho. You must have been studying the boards.
Unless the Sasquatch reference tipped you off. But you are a Canuck or you probably wouldn't know much about the CFL.

I don't think the Bombers need any help most years as it seems to go back and forth
fairly evenly. The Riders had an exceptional year, worked hard and pulled off an amazing win.

Every dog has its day.

Yeah, he's a genius. He figured out that 1 + 2 = 3 and that 3 = 3. And therefore, 3 equals one diamond. Man, that guy is brilliant. I wonder how much weed he smoked to figured that out..

That Nathan's a real smart cookie.
He's changing the pool world.
Lol

"Do you know coin trick? None of us actually use the scoreboard here at the studio, we all use coins.

-> Each diamond represents 3 points, so you want to move your coin 10 diamonds to get to 30 points. Half diamond if you sink purple, and then onto the next diamond if you sink orange. That gives you 3pts, which is why your coin would stop under a diamond. Full diamond jump for the BB, since its 3pts on its own.It makes it easy, because if you come to the table and your coin is under a diamond, you automatically know you're on purple. If not, you're on orange. Same with your opponent, so its instinctive to always know what ball both players are on."

Well, lots of people seemed to have trouble keeping track, so it's a good solution.

But I don't know who thought of it first. Barry Bremner mentioned it in a post well before Nathan did.

The best part is that they figured out that half a diamond equals a purple. That's brilliant..

As simple as this system is, Bremner always wanted the two colored balls to be worth one point and the Bonus Ball worth two points. If you "targeted" the Bonus Ball it was to be worth three points because of the difficulty of the shot. Chiborak was convinced by a small video firm to make the game as simple as 1,2,3. LOL

He told me he hopes Chiborak can find more investors to at least finish the play-offs. Even when there 's a train wreck, you need to clean up the tracks.

you have 4 wks till D-Day.
- is everything locked?
- all players committed to showing up?
- all expenses & reservations completed?
- prepaid wages guaranteed?
- DATES CONCRETE????

i ask, cause we will be @ WMC (World Market Center - those 3 6Million sf buildings @ end of Strip) @ JAN 25-FEB 2. and we could EXTEND our trip to see BB. but we won't be SCREWED again, as last JUL trip. we need to plan.

as well
- NOV semi finals are being aired when?
- FEB finals are being aired when/if?
- is BB being sold overseas?
- are the current BB players out of a job after FEB 15...?

-They hopefully will be more than players as you may find out in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your interest....

this tells us everything that we need to know about you & Vlr & Bonus Ball. thank you.

Is BB looking to give a piece of the potential future action to the players? Or will they have to pull hours as ball girls and camera men? ;)

I do hope the playoffs go off well and BB can get the film out of the can and on a ton of screens. And I hope I'll be able to watch it.

Sorry for the delay, on holiday's with family and spending the days with my granddaughter. I unofficially have the title of (1) director of amateur leagues which will happen in the next few weeks. Part of my job is to help Larry with day to day business and I have offered to (2) "try and put out fires". Although (3) I have very little billiard experience I have thoughts on how we can be part of the solution and not part of the problem in regards to making (4) all billiards a stronger industry. Time will tell I guess. I don't think point man would be correct as I always played center in hockey. Assistant sounds better. Thank you

Since You offered to answer questions, here come just few simple ones in regards to what is highlighted above - in red (numbers in order):
1. What does this title mean officially and what does it mean to you?
2. "try and put out fires" - meaning: promote or "burn bridges" again ???
3. What other experience do you have besides having "very little billiard experience" - also, what would you mean by a "billiard experience" ???
4. What do you mean by " all billiards" ???

Respectfully
and
Regards to Larry Chiborak

I'm sorry. What does this have to do with me?

Voice of Bonus Ball

In her absence, I believe it's got to do with concerned, interested, vested people's inability to attain information as to what's going on with BB. She asked some valid questions that went (again) unanswered. It's simply frustrating.

Since you and Newby recently started posting, it made folk like us see some hope to escape "the BB mushroom theory". (in the dark, under cow poop - a mushroom grows). Many of us consumers here and elsewhere feel that way Steve. Surely, someone from BB gets this?

Why, Mr "Voice of Bonus Ball" - does the cloak of secrecy continue - vs publicity that generates excitement?

Thanks for listening. We hope to hear an honest, informed reply back.

Matt, I totally get that people have questions. A lot of us do. All I know is we are having playoffs from February 5th - 15th. I made it clear I was here to explain some basic rules to our game, as someone in this thread mentioned they weren't familiar with our rules.
As for Bob (Newby), I'm sure if he knew and could honestly answer all those questions, he would have. Just know we are having playoffs between the 5th and 15th of February, and my understanding is all our players are excited to come back.
Also, we appreciate the support of those who care about cue sports in being in Las Vegas for our first ever playoffs, as well as those who wish to watch our matches online.

Vlr,
The more you post, the more you are starting to give Nathan a run for his money.

What other experience do you have besides having "very little billiard experience"

No Bob Ford ever played for the Winnipeg Jets so ya got me.

Maybe Bobby Hull and he changed his last name to fool us.

To promote pocket billiards,

I honestly think a great format would be similar to a local weekly tournament. BCA 8 ball with a 10 ball draw (had to buy raffle tickets for it). Set up a scotch doubles or 3-man rotation teams tournament with a quick shot clock like bonus ball had, and somewhere in the middle of the tournament have a 10-ball break and run draw, and again at the end of the tournament, give the winning team each a 10 ball break and run chance. That would do a few things.

First, it would give people who don't play pool a level of familiarity with it while adding the new twist of alternating shots. I have seen countless people at bars play doubles without alternating shots. The alternating would seem like a bigger challenge than it is.

Second, it would give people a teaser, something to build anticipation for. Having to wait to find out who got the draw for the break and run opportunity. And then again to see who would win the tournament and have a chance to earn more. Maybe set it up like family feud. Your team won so you get $XXX per ball, but if you run out you win that times 5 and both or all three run out you multiply the earnings again.

Third, it would teach a new game to the viewers. I think it is important to start them with something they are familiar with to think "Hey, with a little practice, I could do that!" and then get them thinking "OOH! Ok, what is this game? How does this work?" Challenging viewers just slightly, helping them learn that pocket billiards is more than just 8 ball and bar boxes and beer, could bring more and more viewers in. But you have to show them that in small doses, making sure not to reference how Chip Compton won some bank tournament or Justin Hall won another tournament, or how another game is played, etc. Keep it simple, stupid. 8 ball, then challenge the brain a little with 10 ball break and run, and talk about no other types of pool, simply explain the rules if needed and have people that know the game talking about the shots as they happen.

The playoffs start Feb. 5 and run until Feb. 15. There will be 2 games played on the 5th and 2 games on the 6th with 1 game each of the following nights. On the 14th there are no games being played and an announcement will come later in the month as to why. Yes any $ or product not received will and have been getting a refund. We are trying to take care of this issue and will continue to do so. Send your contact info with proof of your purchase to bob@wpbltv.com and I will check into it and correct all owed $. In the coming days announcements about the 6 pocket amateur game, the playoff schedule, additions to the web page and the intro to the amateur leagues will come. We are excited about 2014 and would hope to see as many of you attend the playoffs. Thank you and all the best to all pool players in 2014. Bob Ford
