CJ Wiley "great to do business with"

I’ve been reading a number of threads about CJ Wiley, some good and some negative. I saw CJ the first time in Columbia, SC at the RackmUp 9 ball Classic back in the 90's. I’d never heard of him and a friend of mine and I were watching him warm up and he was running balls like I’d never seen before. He made the game look easy and we all know it’s far from easy. The tournament was full of Champions and I don’t remember where he finished, but he made a respectable showing. I always remembered him after seeing him in person. Later I came across an Accu-stats match of CJ Wiley vs The Miz at the Sands in Reno, NV and I got a copy of it. CJ told me himself in a PM that that was his first pro tournament in the US and what a memorable match it was for me. CJ put on a show against one of the greatest to ever play the game, “The Miz”. There were 3 commentators, Buddy Hall, Billy Incardona, and the late Dave Bollman and they all had nothing but good things to say about CJ. CJ won the match by the way and if you ever get a chance to watch that video don’t miss it. I think a copy of it is on Youtube.

I didn’t know whether to post this on the forum or not, but after reading some of the posts about CJ I think I should. CJ ran a special promotion on his DVD’s for Christmas and I’d been debating whether to order some of the teaching DVD’s or not and when I saw the price I told myself go ahead and order the DVD’s now and take advantage of his special price. I learned some things in CJ’s very first set of DVD’s years ago that have helped me and I thought maybe I could pick up some pointers from his new DVD’s to give me a little more help.

The DVD’s arrived promptly, but it was during the holidays and my wife was home from work and my grandson was home from school so I knew sitting down and watching pool lessons on DVD’s was out of the question so I didn’t even open the envelope right away. I thought I’d wait until I had some quiet time to watch them. Well a few days after the envelope arrived I opened it and to my surprise CJ had made a mistake and sent me the wrong DVD’s. Instead of the teaching DVD’s I got the Documentary on Earl winning the Million and the Semi Final and Finals of the tournament when Earl won the Million. I thought right away that I should have opened the envelope when it first arrived, but I didn’t. I got on AZ and sent CJ a PM telling him what happened. I explained that I’d received the wrong DVD’s and that I could return them if he would send me the DVD’s I’d ordered. CJ didn’t hesitate and said “we were busy and made a mistake so just keep the DVD’s you have as a GIFT and I’ll send the correct DVD’s to you as soon as possible”. I wasn’t expecting that and I thought what a great person he was to deal with.

I wasn’t going to post this, but after reading some of the negative posts about CJ from a few members complaining I thought I should. I know he's trying to make a $, but he's also helping the game we all love. You can't fault him for that and I know from my personal experience I learned a lot from his first set of DVD's years ago that have stuck with me and helped me with my game.

Nice post James! We don't hear about about the times when transactions go as they should, or when a problem does occur and it's promptly made right. Lots of good folks here on AZ. I've ordered from CJ as well with no problems. Thanks for sharing.
 
Yes, strongly agree. CJ is a great guy to deal with, and he always try his best to help.
 
I have PMed CJ on a number of occasions and he has always gotten back to me. He not only sells a product but he will help you if you have any questions. I bought something from someone else and I was having a problem understanding part of it. I was not satisfied with this person's short and sharp response and will not buy anything else from them.

CJ has also sent me a couple of autographed posters. I have great respect for him as a teacher and a person. Too bad you negative posters don't (to coin a phrase) "real eyes this"

I've ordered from CJ a few times, the communication has always been great, and the product has been too.
 
I ordered CJ's 50% off Holiday special featuring the TOI tutorial and three other instructional DVDs. Order was placed on a Monday; items arrived as ordered on Friday. Prompt and efficient; doesn't get any better than that.

You're welcome Mike. I had to post this thread after reading some of the others about CJ. I want people to know the kind of business man he is and how he treated me.

I have bought his aiming and banking dvds and even went up and took 5 hours lessons from him. To say it was an eye opener would be an understatement. He knew with seconds what I was doing wrong (or let;s say the couple things I did right; I think everything else was wrong) ! He was more than patient with me and taught me things I will carry forever. He is a great teacher. He's patient and knows what the hell he's talking about. Since that time I have stayed in contact with him always asking questions on particular things and he always gives me a great and precise answer and he gives it right away. He checks in with me from time to time and even gave me free access to the Earl interview as a little xmas present. I've said before he's more like having a coach than a teacher. Once he secures his new pool hall I plan on spending a week up there taking some lessons and just working on my game. He is top notch in my book. The things he promotes works if you try them and if not he'll recommend different approaches. There is nothing like learning from a guy that has been there done that. I have raised my average alot since implying his techniques and advice and although I will never be a world beater its nice to see yourself progressing when you put the time into it. If you ever have the time and finances to get to Fort Worth you should definitely try to take some lessons from him. If I lived closer I'm sure my average would have doubled by now. When you get to know him you will find he wants nothing more than to help people and the sport he loves ! Ed
 
So we continue to sing special praises for people in pool who do what they are supposed to i guess.

The same thing happened to me I contacted CJ and he said no problem and 3 days later I had the correct DVD in my mail box.

Why not? Is it such a bad thing to highlight when people do good things?

I know why knocking is so popular.....it's FREE and CHEAP and EASY.

Much easier to knock instead of being positive. If there is anything in the entire world which shows natural talent then it's knocking. Crying and whining comes naturally to everyone. Being positive and suppressing the whining is a conscious choice.

I wish that Mike Howerton would have a strict no-knocking week. Add like ten mods for a week and give them all the ban-hammer.

Then any knockers would get banned for a week. I bet the atmosphere of AZB would change for the better immediately.

Thanks, "dougster," it actually helps me to understand the game better when I get a chance to answer questions about pool. You have ask some questions that made me think about things in a new way, and I'm glad to have the opportunity to add knowledge.
