Was playing in a league last night, the league organizer was talking about a pretty new room that either just opened or expanded, they got a bunch of Imperial tables. They look nice in the pics at least.

Here is the horror.

They had some GCIII tables either from their prior location or before the refurb.

They threw them in the trash.

Yep.

Did not try to sell them, donate them, refurb them and use those.

Tossed. Them. In. The. Trash.

Years ago,..........................

In "The Old Country," for doing such a thing, didn't they take ppl out back and ________ them ?!?
:shocked2::shocked2:

When I was in college, our University pool hall had 8ft Brunswick drop pocket tables, similar to gold crowns. They decided to renovate the hall and sell each of the 10 tables at Auction. Someone bought all ten for $100.

Then they go out and pay $2500/ea for some ridiculous "Outdoor" pool tables that have metal rails, legs, and skirts. And it gets better! They decided to screen print the University logo onto the cloth! So now there is a huge rubbery section in the middle of the table.

It's going to be very hard to top this story. That's funny.

10 -15 years ago a brand new pool hall opened in my area. They brought all their tables in,,had it all set up for the opening the next day.
And decided to leave the lights on all night, including the lights over the tables.

The next morning they found their cheap plastic light fixtures melted all over the table tops. They put too high watt bulbs in the lights.

I don't know if it ruined all the tables,,I dont think it did,,but it did take a few out of play.

This is 'merica; when you done with sometin, you throw it in the trash!

Pretty stupid to not try to sell them. Selling them would offset some of the refurb/moving costs. It probably cost some money to trash 'em... I can't imagine the local waste management taking a ton of slate (literally) without charging extra for the removal.

So my conclusion is that the poolroom business is doing fabulous for this guy to throw away a bunch of money.
