It's on an older cue prob from the 90's. It has an ivory look to it but looks synthetic for sure. Any idea??

Thanks,

Tim

I had some of these in about that time period. They were made from Ivory dust layered between sheets of plastic. They were made in Califoria. All of mine split, along the lines. I kept one just for old times sake. By the way, as of yesterday, no cue with Ivory in it, can be sold anywhere in the United States...JER

Technically, no cue with elephant ivory can be sold in the states. Pre-ban you can sell, but only within your state. No cross state line sales...

What was the name of the material? And it's been a while since I hit with it but I remember it played pretty good. Also the maker of the cue was Don Moyer from Harrisburg, PA. He's since retired and he in the one blue book of cues. Not sure if he was known to use this material so it would help to identify?

The way that I understand it is that even to be sold in your state you must have documentation that the exact piece that you are using has never been used in a criminal act, or, must be in an antique at least 100 years old.

Prather or Atlas sold that material for very short time late 80's or early 90's. It had a little click sound in the hit and faded away about as fast as it came on the seen.

I had a cue who had inlayed points, which looked the same! All the 4 points had those not real straight lines with little curves and they had not a clear white color too.
The reseller told me it must been either Ivory or bone of a Rhinoceros or another big animal and its for sure not a synthetic material!
