Most Grippy Leather Wrap

Stingray is great. Real grippy and it stays dry no matter what.
I had a Jacoby with a stingray grip - i regret selling it...

I find linen wraps way too slippery and am planning to replace the linen wraps on all my cues with leather wraps. I was wondering what type of leather would provide the most grip. Any recommendations on where to get wraps changed would also be appreciated.

Idk about having it installed but the grip used on some of the Lucasi hybrid cues have the most grip I've ever seen. It's some kind of rubber that will pull the liner out of your case.

Edit. I missed the leather part of your post somehow

The Hercek I used to have had a really soft, tacky, leather wrap. I really liked it and haven't found one like it since.

Unfortunately, I don't know what he used. It wasn't a special request leather, so whatever was his standard leather wrap in about 1999 should fit the bill for you. Does anyone know what kind of leather Hercek used back then?

Just get a rubber sleeve wrap and roll it on. That's as grippy as you're going to find and you don't have to pay for a rewrap.

This is what I did. PLUS it adds a protective layer to your cue! ;-) Nothing worse than walking around a table and accidentally dinging the crap out of you cue!

I tried the slip-on rubber, but finally changed it out for a Cork Wrap.. Guido Orlandi does them & they are unbeatable. He does a great job.

That's the route I'd take. I carry a thin rubber sleeve for those instances when I feel I need more grip. I hardly use it, since my stroke seems to be elvolving into sort a of mixed slip stroke hesitation stroke.

Kangaroo is very soft with a slight natural tack, best leather wrap available. Shark, stingray, elephant are all hard feeling with textures that are easier to grip than smooth leather. Spanish bull is soft but doesn't have a tackiness to it. Lizard is very slick, stacked wrap has texture but no tack, and most leather "imitations" are like regular leather. Here's a photo of a Bob Hunter with a kangaroo wrap, not sure it'll show up.

So the wraps that I should check out seem to be shark, stingray, and elephant. Would these be more or less grippy than a wrapless cue?

Anyone happen to know someone local in Las Vegas to do wrap installs?

I had a cue with a sharkskin wrap that actually got almost hot to the touch as I used it. I've never heard anyone else with the same issue though so maybe it was just my particular wrap. 2 other people tried it and said the same thing.
All 3 of my cues have an elephant ear wrap (shooter, break cue and jump cue) and I'm quite happy with it.
The grip for breaking and jumping is as good as it gets!
I've never had any issues with slipping. The texture of elephant ear just seems to lock in without much pressure at all.
Not a cheap option but well worth it for me.
