Gold Crown Billiards, Erie PA expands again

It has been three years since we did the expansion of the upstairs bar. The downstairs bar has been in the process of getting a total facelift (4th in about 30 years). It is 90% complete. I had some pictures taken for a redesigned website for the bar. This bar serves 140 different domestic, craft, imported, and draft beers. We also have a good selection of tip-top shelf liqours ($50 and more a shot). We run specials to fit everyones budget. Gold Crown Billiards, Andy's Ale House & Grill, and the Bullfrog Bar have something for everyone. We are an ultra public, mega-plex, melting pot.

I'll be up there to watch some of the tournament tomorrow night Paul. I have to mention that the food is great! I had a burger last time that was awesome.

Wow Nice place... So nice I'd be willing to play there in a tournament with "almost" any rules that could be thought up ;)

Looking good Paul.. Keep up the good fight.. Always nice to see a room still expanding/upgrading and not closing the doors... Dress code and good food and beverages go a long way to keeping even a place with pool tables as a place for singles and couples alike..

Many of the rooms I have been to in my travels would never make the list for date night and I often wonder how they keep the doors open or how much better they might do with a facelift....

Chris

Paul,

See you tomorrow. I'd challenge all the AZ nay say'ers to come and play but they'd just change the subject anyway. Worse, they'd tell you you'll fail!!!!

One of our local rooms ran an event similar to your triple elimination concept last week. Actually quite a success. Other than one minor glitch on the board, it went really well. Had a great time just as I will tomorrow. Is the field full?

Lyn

Here are some pictures that better show the work done. I was using a picture file type other than jpeg and they were not sizing correctly.

Yes Lyn, the field is full with 64 players and a waiting list. The field filled in just 16 days from when it was announced.

Joe,

You forgot the innovative tournament formats. The lack of a single argument over pattern racking or other such distractions. No short games. Every game is won one with the nine ball going in last. Saturday morning Paul provides a continental breakfast for the tournament players at no charge. Excellent player auction. Just wish the auctioneer would stop telling people I drive down from Canada  . First class food and plenty of it. Did I mention the beer was COLD?

See you at SBE.

Lyn

Oh Crap Jeff. I'm sorry. Yes, I was there last night. I showed up about 7:30 PM and left a bit after midnight. Problem was that I haven't logged on here onto AZ billiards till this morning. I got home at close to 2 am. My apologies bud. I was watching my buddy Benny play. Got a piece of him in the second Calcutta. He just beat Dennis Hatch's brother, or uncle, to make it into the final 4. I'm too old to stay up that late, so I took off home. I still don't know how he did. LOL. I just woke up. If I had been on AZ at all yesterday, and read this thread, I would have found you for sure. Sorry dude. Next time, I promise.

Sham,

Was nice seeing you yesterday. Ben beat Mark Hatch eh. I found a way to lose to Mark not once but twice yesterday!!!! Same thing last event losing to Kenny Greer twice. Lost to Kurt England twice the event before that. Getting a complex. Only good thing was I was in the money each time. Still not a good lasting memory. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Paul, the room looks beautiful! And it sure sounds like things are going well, congrats!

Lyn, It was a pleasure seeing you again too. All those guys above shoot lights out. I'd be happy to shit in a nine ball against any of them..........oh wait, you can't at this event. LOL. I have no business getting into that event. Seriously though, consistantly making it that far in that event says a lot about your game too. Hopefully next time I can make it a lot earlier. I drove a ton of miles yesterday. Sorry again Jeff. I'll definitely let you know if I'm coming up to the next one. I had no idea you were going to be there. Sorry bud.

Dub,

When I left last night at 10:30 the parking lot was on overload and every pool table in the building was in use. Had an excellent dinner at Andy's Pub. Paul and his staff were gracious hosts as always. Unfortunately I failed to cover all my expenses. Needed to win one more match. Oh well! Know for sure I'll be back for the next event.

Makes me ALMOST wish I still lived in Binghamton!

You know something Lyn? For all the knocks on pool players.....the highest compliment I get is when the players go to leave and head home. Each player makes it a point to seek me out, shake my hand, and thank me for having the event and then proceed to tell me what a great time they had. It is inspiration to do more. I do try to make it more than just a pool tournament.
