Pool necessities?

I am sitting here reflecting on my life in the billiards world, just wondering. I have always been one to buy n sell cues, trying to try as many as I could afford to. I came to learn that very few are ones I consider to be good players. I don't care for collecting. I know of a few good case makers too as I've had a few of them too lol. Anyways, when you have a good cue, backup cue, and a good case...What exactly do you consider to be necessary to carry with you in or on your case? I know we all have different thoughts so I will look for consistent answers throughout my thread. Thanks folks!!

A cue. A chalk.

That's all I need and put it in my flip case when I want to travel light. Otherwise, it's the 2x2 with jump/break that I don't use much, a q-claw and a couple of circle balls. Half the time I drag around the whole thing because I'm too lazy to keep switching them around.
 
I want to have one good playing cue with 2 shafts and then a break and jump cue, or a break/jump combo.

I also like to have a backup cue but not one that I carry with me all the time, something to leave home in a single cue case for times when I want to travel super light and to serve as backup in case I need to send my main player out for work or something.

Other than that, I like to have a towel, q-claw, and chalk in my case. I carry a few more things but most I could do without.

I'm not a cue collector either, I like sampling a few different things but I don't want a bunch of them sitting around, right now having three players is a lot for me, but at one time I had two of them out for different reasons so it necessitated picking up the third to get me by for a while.
 
I usually carry my favorite playing cue (at the moment ). Extra shaft if not playing close to home.
Break cue. Diamond chalk in chalk holder( hate sharing chalk) Cue pup.
Asprins and glasses.
That is it.

An ultimate tip tool, couple pieces of 2000 grit autobody paper, scrap of leather, a couple cubes of master and a couple of spare tips. Never needed more than that, though at times Ive carried a bunch of crap.

Aside from cues (just a player with extra shaft and break cue) I probably carry a lot more than I need. Strip out the useless stuff and I'm left with:

Cube of new chalk
last4ever tip tool
Nicorette gum

Okay, I could manage without the chalk and tip tool.
 
I carry around my playing cue, break cue, chalk, and most importantly, a huge stack of APA break and run patches that I'll spill all over the floor accidentally on purpose to intimidate opponents before matches.
 
Ok so here and via PM I have learned that the most useful items are chalk in a magnetic holder, a tip pik, shaper, very fine sandpaper, and possibly a patch for a corner marker. Anything else? I already keep all that in my case :-)

There are a few other more esoteric items...

Finger extenders

Hearing protection

Spool from empty roll of tape

A 39 inch butt with 9 inch screw in extender

Magnifying glass

Bicep, forearm and ankle weights

Golfers glove

Glove for bridge hand

Tinted shooting glasses

Good size duffle bag

Now keep in mind that the above equipment is for the serious professional only.

Don't forget the ass weights and beekeeper's outfit. How are you going to play pool if you're not properly equipped?

Wow! Uh...ok. The only thing I can see being useful is the earplugs. Some opponents are just annoyingly distractive. Unless you can block it out, these will come in handy. Thanks

The ear plugs are needed but are only a part of the gear required.

After inserting your plugs put on a pair of fully enclosed ear protectors.

Like the ones used for shooting rifles or operating a jack hammer.

I usually wear mine into the pool hall around my neck. ;)
 
Well I usually wear my pajamas with feet because ya never know when u will need a nap between matches...and the feet help keep my feet and socks. Clean ;-)

I keep a small (8" square I think) cloth in my case. Handy sometimes for wiping a cue down or even a ball, but also I like to wash my hands periodically while playing pool, and it's not uncommon for bathrooms in pool rooms to run out of paper towels. :embarrassed2:
