God is not going to help you win your match!

So, the moral of the story, is one person got their prayer answered, but the other 5 or 6 billion folks are SOL ?? I'm not digging those odds myself..
You think u would be concerned with ODDS if u were facing it? Dont think so.....Pretty sure there are millions upon millions of stories just like mine so NO the others are not SOL. Ask any true believer if they are SOL. Maybe the studies need to show those that are truely SOL.......the one's that really don't believe. But in reality, no one is SOL as long as there is breath left in them to be able to call upon him.

Aren't there any moderators at all on this site? This isn't even a post to be kicked to the curb anymore it should just be deleted. Get this religious shit off the main forum.

Why?

Why can't people discuss their beliefs? If they believed in anything but God, you would say nothing.

For example; If I said I had a lucky piece of chalk that I have to have with me to win, and when I forget it I lose, what would you say to that?

Thats a belief, a belief that the chalk helps me win, right?

So, why you upset that people say that God does or does not help them play pool?

The Power of Prayer does work. It was proven to myself during the passing of my Father
last March.

Trust me on the is one tho. God doesn't care about your game of pool.

Your Guardian angel or Spirit Guide may take a shine to you on occasion while playing tho.

Never second guess yourself when you get a hunch. That could be someone giving you a hint.

"Your Guardian angel or Spirit Guide may take a shine to you on occasion while playing tho."

These are the type of statements I am talking about.... chapter and verse please.

NO offence intended, but why do you believe this? Because you thought it up? Saw it somewhere? Read it somewhere? Just curious?

Wrong, unknowledgeable believers believe the earth is around 6,000 years old, because they base that on Adam and Eve, the start of the human race as we know it.

But they do not understand what they read, so they are in error, NO ONE knows the exact age of the earth, not even scientist, but I can get closer than them, IN THE BEGINNING is pretty accurate I believe.

Do you think it only took 6 days to create?

Are you sayin' that God can't string together a 5 or 6 pack if he wants?

As soon as this thread was started I had a feeling it would turn out in a debate. It makes me wonder if that was the intention of the OP to begin with. These stories usually don't turn out too well. Someone gets too offended and people wind up saying hurtful things.

I'm here playing pool, by the grace of GOD, and loving every minute of it. Every match I win is because of Him. He allows me to wake up in the morning and go about my day without question. So yes, God will help you win your match, too.

Believers keep on believing !!!

How's this for no effect.......
I know an individual that was diagnosed with terminal Cancer, which had taken over his entire body. He was opened up in Surgery by a team of doctors that stood there in shock at what they saw. His inside's were completely covered over and eaten up with the Cancer. Not a square inch inside him (which was in his mid-section and abdominal area which included all his organs) that was Cancer ridden. They closed him up. They gave him a few hours to live due to the severity of it. His family and others were praying for him the entire time. The next day, another top surgeon came in and ask to see this Cancer for his own. He shared with the other doctors that he believed if certain parts of the Cancer were taken out that it might prolong his life someway. They took the man back to surgery and opened him up again. The team of doctor's, nurses and everyone else in the room stood there in absolute shock. There wasn't any sign of Cancer within the man's body. The doctors held a press conference to tell of this mystery and had no answer for what had occurred. They can usually come up with some reason for this phenomenon but not this time. They announced that what had just happened was medically impossible and left it at that.
So I don't care how many studies have been done by scientist or whomever. To say that prayer has no effect......I wonder if they would feel the same way if it were any of them that this happened to. I highly doubt it.
Pray on believers, PRAY on.......:grin-angelic:

Faith healing, or healing as a result of prayer, is a topic I studied extensively for about 1 year. During that time, my conclusions were...

1) No provable evidence of a miraculous cure was found. Only anecdotal, and when attempting to find the evidence to back up those stories, it was either non-existent, misrepresented, or thoroughly exaggerated.

2) Some illnesses can be healed naturally, without attributing it to a miracle. We get over colds and flus. Allergic reactions can change or even disappear over time. And that applies to some more serious illnesses also.

3) When people have terminal illnesses, it's extremely common to have good days and bad days, ups and downs, energetic days and days you feel like you have no will to live. People attribute the ups to prayer. And unfortunately in many cases, when an ill person is getting worse, the attitude can be "Your faith is not strong enough" ... "You need to truly believe..." etc. which is doubly victimizing the dying person.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. If you know someone who was riddled with cancer one day and not the next, there will be evidence of that somewhere beyond what you have written on this forum. Hopefully more than a link to another anecdote.

Wonder why you left out all the listings of atheists killing religious people. Still going on today, by the way.

Neil, I didn't leave anything off. I even asked Sean to feel free to post whatever he had on the subject. If you got something, I have no problem with it, I'd like to read it.

Yeah, because we all know there are no "debates" in the Main Forum, ever :) Actually, I'm quite surprised and a little happy that this did not take a turn for the worse. It's actually a healthy and professional debate... if this was in NPR all hell would have broken loose by now :)

If man evolved from Apes why are there still Apes?

Wedge

Our species’ relationship to other extant apes (I say other because we humans are likewise apes) is comparable to my relationship to my cousin. It is not me and to my parent.

Me and my cousin have common grandparents.

Wedge, If you are so inclined, these two evolution websites are very helpful.

In a jovial sense, I'm actually surprised at how sensitive atheist folks are when it's pointed out to them that their need to respond to believers' expression of faith (especially e.g. to shoot holes in it or to counter any points) is itself a religious act -- anti, of course, but in the vein of "responding to religion" nonetheless.

Your "religious act" assessment makes no sense to me. Maybe I just don't understand your argument.

I'm not particularly interested in a running debate with folks that took offense to having a mirror held up in front of them. My points are clear, and I'm satisfied with that.
[/I]

Not that you need to continue the discussion for ME--of course you don't. But again, I'm not finding your points clear.

All you have to do is read up on Chinese history, Russian history, for that matter, just look at what's going on right now in Nigeria and many other African nations.

I can't even imagine all the psychological games that believers must play with themselves when they attempt to come to grips with anything that, in their minds, seem to assail their beliefs. You are all grasping for straws. It is quite sad, really.

Morals predate religion.

And that also is acting in a religious way. You're hiding behind the "but I'm just responding to the blind faith of believers!" facade.

You could just let it go -- let people express their beliefs, whatever they may be. But the fact that you feel you need to respond, to try and "convince" those folks why they're wrong, shows that your "non-belief" is a little more than just that. ;)

Atheism is a position on a single subject: Is there a God? Atheists state that the God claim has not met it`s burden of proof.
What you are asking is: Why do atheists seem to be getting more attention and why are they so adamant about the seperation of church and state?

You can hold any belief you wan`t as long it does not infringe on other peoples freedom.
If that was possible it would be great, but religious people LOVE to proselytize and it`s a constant power struggle between believers; my religion is the right one, no mine is the only truth etc etc.
Beliefs have consequences in the real world, like impeding stem cell reserach, anti gay, anti abortion, anti equal rights, pro death penalty, the whole f*****g eye for an eye thing mentality.
Parents praying for their children instead of taking them to the doctor, not caring about climate change, because Jesus will come back in their lifetime (has been claimed for 2000 years now...)
Not accepting evolution and cosmology.
pius, pretend bullshit double standard moronic behaviour!
People have had it with this stuff, they want smart people with real educations, that knows basic stuff about how the world works and that has some basic understanding of history.
