Qiut smoking day for AZers and support.Monday.

Well...its not a Monday and I'm technically cheating but I smoked my last cigar/cigarette today...the reason I say I'm cheating is I got one of the vaporizer's. I plan to use the vaporizer as a crutch. I tried cold turkey a few times without success.

About a year ago my wife successfully quit smoking cigarettes and she hates the smell so I started smoking cigars instead...At first a cigar (Backwoods) would last me a full day and over the last 8 months or so it got to where I was smoking up to 4-5 a day. Its time to quit....

I'm glad others are having success . I have cut back smoking days but others are bad. Tried switching Brands too - they all taste like TP to me. Toilet Paper- I was always a non-smoker- just crazy I smoke . Thanks to the others that are helping with the on line (non-smoking forum.

Just quit. Get through 1 day. And then one more. If I can do it...so can you. I smoked Marbs, Lucky's & Camels. I could not breath. Coughed up some seriously ugly looking stuff and stunk like hell. Today I feel great and enjoy being in control of myself. Stopping will be the best thing you ever do. Enjoy good health. Stay alive and stay around for spite. Taking care of your health is a winner. Do you have anything better to do?

100%!

You will be amazed how good you will feel health-wise AND how much of a confidence booster it is, knowing you're stronger than the addiction!

I feel like I have successfully quit, and 2-months ago I didn't think it was possible.
The whole process of quitting the habit, if you are really hooked like I was, has to be broken down into smaller habits, or it's just too overwhelming.
The patch really helps the nicotine craving, but what do you do when your life is practically timed out by cigarettes, getting me from point-A to point-B.
Every time my phone rang I would light one up. or every time I took the dogs out, even posting on AZ would cause me to smoke.
Losing that timing habit is really hard, even harder than not smoking in between matches.
Also, I can watch someone smoke in person and it doesn't bother me, but when I see an actor on TV light one up it drives me nutz.
I think you have to break each habit individually but all at the same time, which is tricky from a mental standpoint..
In my opinion quitting the habit is more complicated than it seems, and for me the end game started with the 24-hour "CQ" patch.
As for the vaporizer, I would try it as long as there was some hash oil in the cartridge, but I don't think these vapor devices would of ever helped me quit the habit.

The one and only time I felt like cold Turkey was going to work for me was when I deployed to Afghanistan ...I figured being on a remote C.O.P. it would be hard to get smokes and force me to quit....Well that worked until we got into our first fire fight and afterwards my nerves were shot and I needed a cigarette worse than I ever had before...that one moment of weakness ruined me. I hope I can stick it out this time.

I did good tonight at our little local tournament ...a couple of my smoking buddies asked me to go smoke and even though I wanted to I told them that I quit and stayed strong. I'm going to do it this time....

I would not call that a moment of weakness. That would shake anyone up. You're a brave guy. Good luck and thanks for serving.

....save up your cigarette money and treat yourself to new or another cue.

Thanks for the kind words...I may save up for a new break cue but I think I might surprise my wife with a new (bigger) diamond for her wedding ring....

2K a year, in 5-years buy a Balabushka, or about (7) 1-ounce gold bars
Nice little hedge on the stock market for not really doing anything, almost like free money

Wish everyone

The strength and courage to put this addiction behind you. Smoked 15 yrs. off for over 25. Still believe it was one of the best decisions, financially, health wise and social I have made.
If I can give one piece of advice it would be that your frame of mind is all important. This has to stop now, no excuses.

After 2 weeks it's a done deal.

Just need to decide you need to get it done.

For yourself and everyone in your life..............DO IT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been a couple days now and I'm still going strong...The vaporizer is really helping to keep the edge off. It was a little tough last night, I went out with my wife to shoot a little pool at our local VFW (you can smoke inside there)...Being around a bunch of smokers got to me a little bit but I just used the vapor pen...

Do we have any new quitters this week......

Let us know if your quitting this week and share how you feel and what your going through.

It might just be that little nudge that wall help you get there.

When it comes to this smoking we're all on the same team.

The team of living and a better life.

Pool game will probably get better also.

It's been long enough, I'll go ahead and post here. I had my last real cigarette Sunday around 11pm. I am/will continue with the e-cigs for a while - but just getting off the real ones is a huge step. Plus, I like my desert flavors so much more. And I don't stink all day every day.

But, it's been long enough that I can smell my house now and thank GOD it's spring, so I can clean and air out the place out.

Congrats! Today is day 22 for me. The e-cig helps a ton. People have offered me cigarettes off and on but I don't really have any interest in lighting another one up. Just take it one day at a time and you will be fine. The biggest thing in the beginning is when your brain tells you that you still need a cigarette. Once you get past that barrier and realize you will be fine without one, then you are set.

This will be my 4th serious attempt (over the last 10 years; been smoking almost 25 years - started really young). Most of the other times I just quit cold turkey and generally make it a few months without a problem; made it a whole 14 months once. My downfall is the infamous "I was really drunk and just wanted one to see..." then I turn into an alcoholic just to smoke. haha

That brain thing though, yeah. Generally after the 3rd day it's pretty easy to manage - and since I've been doing the e-cigs, I don't even have too much of a craving. After a meal at home is the usually the toughest urge to overcome.

I had league last night in a smoking pool room and didn't even nearly as strong of an urge as I had expected - even after I completely fell on my face during my match. So... I think I'm good for a while. :)

For everyone quitting right now, stick with it.
Believe me, it's only a matter of short time before you realize you don't have any cravings anymore. Best thing you could ever do for yourself and the people who love you.

If you keep falling off the wagon, just jump right back on with both feet. It's truly the only way you will ever get where you want to be.

Good for you............

In a couple of weeks your on the final stretch. Keep it up..........

I was in the hospital when it happen and I am still in trouble right now, but I just decide to quit the dam things and I don't miss cigs at all !! I am amazed that I never quit never before and I don't miss them at all.
