I'm just curious what the numbers will look like...I'm not trying to start an argument or anything here...Feel free to post your answer.

Edit: This is the rating system I'm going off of

AZ Nat. Description
10-2 A+ Top professional. World class player. Capable of winning major professional tournaments. Almost always finishes in the money in any tournament entered.

10-1 A Professional, or player possessing professional skills. Capable of winning local open tournaments. Usually finishes in the money in regional tournaments.

10 A- Semi-pro, or player possessing professional skills. Capable of winning or placing high in the money in local open tournaments.

9 B+ Advanced. Very good position play, strategy and consistency. Top league player. Consistent competitor in local open tournaments.

8 B Advanced. Good position play, strategy and consistency. Good league player. Competitive in local open tournaments.

7 B- Intermediate. Fair amount of knowledge and experience, but inconsistent in execution. Average league player.

6 C+ Intermediate. Has learned quite a few shots, but has a lot to learn about position play and strategy. Inconsistent.

5 C Novice. Has a grasp of the fundamentals, but does not know much about the physics of the game. Lower-level league player.

4 C- Novice. Very basic knowledge of the fundamentals. Knows almost nothing about position play. Lowest-level tournament player.

3 D+ Novice. Knows little about the fundamentals, but might know a couple of shots. Average social player.

2 D Novice. May not know anything about the fundamentals or making shots. Non-competitive.

1 D- Novice. Knows nothing about the game except maybe a few rules of play.

Well apparently better than JBCases and a little under Blackballed.

Apoc doesn't wanna be the guy to ask where the poll is...

poll is up now...my cat knocked my computer plug out of the wall while I was finishing the poll...

I've been playing a year. I think I'm like my grades towards the end of college, C+

Somewhere between E and F. I gamble like a D, though. :embarrassed2:

You can't trap me no matter how hard you try!!

I would say I am a 'C' level player. I am an APA 7 in 8 ball and at this level I am probably at the baby stage of what is considered a solid player. It is about this stage where it becomes a lot more mental, and less physical/fundamental in terms of what holds me back from getting to the next level (outside of training/gambling).

I can no longer answer this poll as I play anywhere from D to A+ depending upon phase of the moon, Obama's vacation schedule, how I hold my mouth, and any number of other factors. On a 12 scale, I'm anywhere between a 2 and a 12.

It may look like I play like a D player, buy I can trash talk with the best of 'em, so I answered D+ :p

Lets see....I spent a year as a banger just messing around, took about a 6 years off, spent about a year playing somewhat regularly/seriously, then took about 4 years off, and am just now getting back into playing again (about 90 days in right now)....so I picked I should probably find another hobby, ha! But honestly, I love pool and hope to play much more consistently going forward.

My game is very rough right now, I'm still working on becoming a consistent shot maker....some days I can't run two balls in a row half the time and other days I can string together 5+ with some consistency.

Problem before was just not being very near to a place to play. Now I'm much closer to a place I enjoy playing so I think that will help me play more consistently going forward. In the next few years I hope to find a place to live where I can fit a 9' table as I would absolutely play daily if I had access to my own table without having to go to a bar/hall to play. I love playing, I used to watch pool on tv when I was a kid (in the 90's) so it's always been something I've liked even though I didn't grow up actually playing it.

And yes...my cues are well above my ability level...but I love the world of custom cues, I used to be a custom knife collector so custom cues appeals to me for the same reasons regardless of how poorly I play with them right now.

I was going to choose "I" but then realized that this wasn't a letter rank.

You might have a lot of bad information now that you put in the ranking system you're looking at. Under your scale, I'm a solid B, but I chose C+ in the poll based on what I'm used to. I'd bet I'm not the only one. That's a pretty forgiving scale.

3yrs ago I would've picked B- but today I had to go with D+.
I just can't get it together. Plus back then I was shooting every day any chance I could.
Now I'm trying to get back into it but only shooting 3 times a week including practice. Tuff stuff.

+1...very forgiving scale for that state.

As I read through the descriptions of the levels, I didn't see one that fit my ability....until I read "inconsistent in execution."

Bingo!

I know what to do. I know how to do it. I just can't convince my cue to get with the program. Maybe I need an expensive custom cue. After all, it's the arrow, not the Indian.

That's a pretty forgiving scale.

You have a problem with forgiveness?

Hey Rackemep:

I love that rating system in Arizona.
With those descriptions, seems easy to categorize almost any player in a pinch—
provided you get to watch said player shoot around in an honest manner....
(in other words: no sandbagging).
