The Ballad of John and Lou, Part Three

So one thread is down, how long before he gets protection on those? Funny none of his woofing threads were ever deleted..

I'm kind of sad it got locked up. I don't start that many threads and when I do it's not to have that happen to them. Even if a thread goes astray, I understand that can happen, so what else is new?

If someone needs to get bopped, then bop them, but don't take it out on my thread. And I say all that with full acknowledgement that its not my site, nor my rules.

My bad, Lou. Well played and thanks for the write-ups, though.

This was the most one pocket I've ever watched!

Very nice writeup, Lou.

I don't know either of you, but I enjoy the contributions from both of you on AZB and that is what prompted me to watch this match. It's always interesting to see how fellow AZB members play, since we can't really get a full sense just from reading their posts.

As a person who has never played or watched more than 5 minutes of one pocket, I have to say that I enjoyed this match. I didn't lose my patience like I thought I would, knowing how long games can last. There was enough variety in shotmaking and strategy, along with unexpected outcomes to keep me interested.

I, for one, would like to see more of these matches between AZB personalities!

Thank you Lou. Your still pretty.

First Lou's was not deleted, just locked.

Second there were several woofing treads deleted,
some more that were moved, none just locked.

If we're going to talk about this might as well
speak to the truth about things. :grin-square:

Ditto for me.
This was a good read, and more importantly, Lou wins.

Lou won the pre-match battle.

Lou won the match.

Lou wins the post-match battle.

I am excited to read JB's response, his delusional and manipulative posts are finally being recognized for what they are. Even some of this most loyal nut huggers have stopped trying to defend this crappy excuse for a person.

JB is the sucker in this match, and should always be considered bad action for him backing out on the per game bets with Lou, not increasing the bet that he was barking for, and all the side action he canceled.

I am sure the JB cue case is a great product, but the pool world needs less John Bartons. The world outside of pool needs less John Bartons. And it is for damn sure that this forum needs less John Bartons.

Well Said.

“Our long national nightmare is over…”
President Gerald R. Ford
Suddenly Tim looked me in the eye and asked me point blank, “Are you going to win?” And without hesitation I responded, “Yes. I’m going to win.” And Tim replied, “I know you are. In my business I often ask people, ‘Are you going to win, succeed, meet your goal?’ And I can tell by their response whether they’ll succeed or not. You responded without doubt. I know you’re going to win.”

And then he did what I thought was a weird thing. He turned to Gail sitting on the bar stool next to me, looked her in the eye and asked, “Is he going to win?” And Gail, in her usual, guarded manner said, “Well, I hope so.” And Tim shot back, “No. You have to believe in him, Gail. Do you see that woman at the end of the bar? She’s my wife and we were going to get married a few years ago. But I was near bankruptcy and I told her, ‘I don’t want to get married right now. I’m broke and I don’t know what our financial future will be.’ And she said to me, ‘I believe in you. You will succeed and I want to marry you.’ And that’s all it took and we got married and I’m a millionaire now. Gail, you’ve got to believe in Lou and you will fill him with enough love and confidence that he will.”

And from that night in February, Gail was a 100% behind me, listening to me, encouraging me, making me go out to practice, even when I didn’t feel like it.

So thank you, Gail. You believed in me.

This about sums it up Lou... in reading this last part you brought tears to my eyes... which after 4 combat tours isn't an easy thing to do. Thank you for the story, for the words that encourage not only myself but others as well. It's amazing what the power of love and self confidence can accomplish. ;) Never give up on a dream or a goal, and if you truly believe in your heart that you can make it happen, you will.
I think Henry Ford said it well.... " if you think you can or you can't, you're right."
Anyway, Thank you and congratulations.

A recurring theme to me is that throughout the years, JB has had more opportunities given to him on AZB than any single individual.
I've begun to think maybe mlalum deserves another chance or two to show what he has to offer AZB also.

roadking...before you make any assumptions, you should do some homework. Maybe ask MahnaMahna if he's ever had a tough discussion or two with me before you look any worse for assuming.

JB's had rants in this 3 part series that has gotten people banned before.

So I ask you, why is he still here then? ( don't assume. )

More chances at what? If you would enforce the rules you created then I would have never been banned ever.

I got banned for going off on mlalum after he trolled me relentlessly. Relentlessly.

I didn't troll him he trolled me. Did you do anything about it? Not once not ever.

Then he lies to you about me calling him and you turn a one week ban into a month ban which I was able to have overturned.

Which makes no sense anyway because you said just a few months ago if it happens off the forum it doesn't matter when I mentioned that a forum member threatened to murder my family.

In my opinion you are partially complicit in a lot of the drama on this forum because of how you selectively apply the rules.

Instead of banishing the trolls you actually publicly encourage them. You out people who use the report button and share your bias publicly.

Honestly if I wanted to I could find hundreds of examples where you have allowed me to be harassed, to be attacked with ad hominem insults, to be accused of being a pedophile, you have allowed racial slurs against my staff, outright lies about my business, and the list goes on.

When it came to the aiming threads you allowed people to be attacked every way possible.

I don't know why nor do I understand why you did and still do this but it is simply not right.

I am not the only one who feels this way but am one of the few who will stand up and tell it to you. This forum has lost many great writers and contributors due to your moderation Dave and it is frankly perplexing to me that you moderate the way you do.

If I had the time and inclination I would collect signed statements from the many people I have met who feel that AZB would be much more inviting if the climate was not so intimidating. Intelligent people with a lot to offer who won't post due to the fear of being attacked.

If I had the money I would purchase AZB from Mike and Jerry and keep them and replace you. I would add more mods to keep it civil here and insure that AZB becomes the repository of great pool writing and experience that it should be without having to swim through a river of shit to find the good stuff.

This forum is good and it can be great.

People like me have a lot to offer. The climate however prevents them from trying. That you seem to prefer guys who only troll and instigate to industry veterans is confusing to me.

Instead of complaing about me why don't you take a break from moderating and let some other members share the job? Do it for two months and see how it goes. I would bet you would feel better having the burden lifted and I bet the climate would improve.

Really? I think it need more people like me willing to get in the box and go the distance.

How much have you ever done for pool or for others on this forum?

Nothing that I can see.

I will happily put up my posts against yours any day.

I have helped more people with solid advice, donated thousands to various causes and individuals, sponsored dozens of events and players and continue to do all that despite being attacked relentlessly by several people like you.

I am a part of this community and you are not. All one needs to do is look at our respective posting histories.

If you had been banned any of the hundreds of times you violated the rules harassing me then the forum would look a lot differently.

Again Lou congratulations. Well written and even though I do not agree with everything you wrote I do have a better sense of where you were at now.

I will post my perspective in a few days or week or month when I get around to it.

Thanks for the experience.

i bet Gail took a running jump at you!

i remember sitting in the high rollers lounge, sipping ____ ____s till 3AM, when the conversation finally turned to the ensuing obvious.... you glossed over yáll's history with honesty, and class. you told me your plans to prepare. and i knew @ Mosconi, that you would prevail.

it was never about the money. yáll both played a damn good match, for a very long time.

now, as i recall from last summer, the original bet included:

loser won't post on AZ for a year

checkmate.

Have you ever heard the expression 'those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones', John?
