Best hitting cue you ever played with.

My own Tim Scruggs cue. There's only one cue that tops that just barely and that is a Jerry Franklin era Southwest. Have tried numerous cues, but unfortunately not too many custom cues as they are not very common around here. Everyone plays with a Mezz or a Predator here. Yuck :)

Bob Frey, as I originally hail from Maryland I own and have played with old Joss, Lambros, Scruggs and Frey cues and while I own some from each of these makers Bob Frey's cues have the hit that's always felt right to me. Out of all the makers in that area he was always the least known of all the aforementioned makers but makes amazing cues.

Why am I the Colonel? Because I always get the chicken

The best for me to date is a chechem Bill Hagan cue, one piece butt with buckhorn joint. I'll give props as #2 to a rosewood David Tice cue I own. Shame Tice is no longer making cues. He was a damn good builder.

Had a joss west back in the day late 70,s to early 80,s very sweet cue,,,but have a bob rundee about 15 or so yrs old,,,,kinda like it the best,,,very well balanced, maybe the best balanced cue I,ve shot with,,that is with the rundee shaft that came with it,,,maybe cause it,s been so long sense i had the joss west,,,but I vote for the Rundee,,,

ORIGINAL Madison Bob

Ok, here are the rules. Hit is subjective, we all know that. But let's try anyway to compile a list of cues that we think are GREAT playing cues.

The only rule is one vote per person. So think about it and pick the one cue out of all the cues you have been able to shoot with that you would keep if you could only have one of them for the rest of your life.

Now of course you can put in a name of a cue you have never shot with just because you desire to own it and have heard it's a great playing cue but I hope that you will stick with cues that you actually had time to hit balls with for enough time to really get to know the cue.

I will start, and this is a very tough decision for me because I have owned so many great cues. Keep in mind that just because a brand is someone's #1 choice the number 2 might be real close.

But the object here is to see what sort of list we can come up with if you can only have one. I will update this post with a running list and vote count if it gets any traction. Sometime in the future I will tally the votes by brand even though there may be different "eras" and butt/shaft combinations.

My #1 pick is Jensen.

I think dickie neighbors cues should be a choice here as he has been around a long time and makes a great hitting cue that a lot of top pros play with just ask azbilliards regular Chris Bartram

I play with a monster Bob Thompson cue, because everyone I know who has had the pleasure of using them said they had an amazing hit, and the the cue expert Jim Oswald loved them as well, though he had his own monster player I can't remember by who, but he did have a nice custom Thompson he used as well

so many Cues plays great

I have so many Cues played in the past and will try much more:wink:
but nothing beat the Mc Daniel Cues with Ivory Joint or World Class Cues
seconds:
Randy Mobley
Kenny Murrell
Ron Haley
Darrin Hill
Sugartree
Vollmer and 8 Point BB
.......
Ralf

Add one more for Keith Josey.

But I haven't played with a lot of cues...when I got my Josey I stopped looking.

I've got a Jacoby Hybrid shaft on a Pierce butt made from bowling alley wood.
Got the Pierce from Mel Smog on AZ and had it put away, till I acquired this shaft
that fits perfect. What a gem of a hit. Can't seem to put it away:smile:

My vote is Cognoscenti. I have owned everything from southwest to meucci and my cog outhits them all.
