Best hitting cue you ever played with.

Easy.. the cue I play with right now

Its an Ariel Carmeli

I have hit with a ton of cues including other Carmeli's but this one had me from
the first hit.

I love my Kevin Varney, but due to his recent passing I am retiring it to keep in pristine condition. My two Dan Dishaw cues are now my everyday players. Love the hit, balance and tone of Dan's cues.

I've probably hit with 100 different brands over the years.I also own 30 cues of different makes. My all time favorite cue is Olney. Can't wait til my new one gets here!

Best Hitting Cues

My vote is for Rick Howard.

He makes a super jam up triple throw down no B.S. cue for not a butt-load of money.

I'm no pro, and I haven't hit balls with every cue on the planet, but for my money Rick makes one of the best hittin' cues I've played with.

I've had very good players say the same.

I play with a monster Bob Thompson cue, because everyone I know who has had the pleasure of using them said they had an amazing hit, and the the cue expert Jim Oswald loved them as well, though he had his own monster player I can't remember by who, but he did have a nice custom Thompson he used as well

I'd like to try one of his someday. He does beautiful work with the woods and stag for sure.

Madden cue

I like my John Jack Madden it hits great and has a really nice feel to it it's an excellent playing cue .

Love my Durbins

I know a guy here in KC that collects high end cues, and he lets me hit a few with them. The Searing plain janes have a great hit and alot of feedback, recently tried his fancy Showman great feel. I have two Durbins one rosewood plain jane and one solid ebony, just great hitting cues with alot of feel and feedback. I've noticed i prefer a solid firm crisp hit, nothing soft here especially the tips. Other friends have Schon's older ones with extremely firm hit and Runde Schon's very crisp. I can use a mass produced cue and some have good hits, but I love a custom cue thats been handmade. Find a good one keep it!

Picking something already from the list haha - I play with a 19oz Dufferin house cue and it gets everything I need done ;)

My own cues of course...CM98 Titlist Curly purple heart conversion but it's a toss up between this and my custom Joel Weinstock.

My holy grail of cues:

Yea, unfortunately he stopped making cues back in 07 and no current owners of his cues wish to part with them. I see maybe 1 show up on eBay every year, Bob has a few leftover he would sell, I looked over what he had and ended up buying 4 of em. One of them has stag another has ivory, looked for more stag cues all over the net but to no avail

Best hitting cues

I have had the pleasure to hit with quite a few of the cues on this list but none over the $5K mark. I usually play with a Predator shaft and am very used to the LD it offers. That being said, I do not enjoy the "tink" sound you get when hitting with it. The two cues that I have in mind that I feel have had the best feeling are Jacoby and the newer JD cues. Both to me have an equally solid, firm hit without being "buzzy" in the handle. Since Jacoby is on the list already and to me they feel very similar, I would through JD up there for my vote. This choice was made long before I decided to order them for resale. I like to be able to sell products that I have actually used and can speak honestly about so this is not an advertisement, just my opinion on the question that was asked. Great topic because there are several that I have not tried. Heard a lot of good about Barnhart's so I am surprised he is not up there, and equally surprised that there isn't a runaway with any one cue maker. Sure would be nice to see one lead the pack by a favorable margin.

There have been 3 that stand out for me,a Paul Mottey all ebony "widow" with an ivory joint,Mike Bender 10 pointer with ivory joint and a Bob Runde rosewood sneaky with a SS joint. All had a great hit,and played really we'll.Don't think that I could pick just one of those 3.BTW,they ranged from a little over $600.00 (Runde) to 6 thousand, the Bender.

I have played with cues from $100 all the way past $5000. and as crazy as this may sound the first time I played with a 5280 sneaky pete I fell in the with the cue! now I play with a 5280 rm6 and I love it! I the the radial joint best hit ever!

Every now and then production cue companies happen to throw great pieces of wood together and a great cue gets maid. Had it happen to me a few times

There are too many cue makers out there to give a meaningfull answer, but after having tried some custom cues and most production brands i have noticed a few things:
Most of the feedback when playing is from the shaft so its hard to tell one butt from another aslong as the weight is similar.
The diffrence in pin and joint is not that crucial apart from how it makes the cue sound.
I feel that shafts with a metal insert tends to feel a little firmer.
I have pretty much decided that Mezz cues have great consistency and that i like the firm hit from the hybrid pro 2 shaft. I prefer the united joint.

I'm in the same boat!!! Best cue I've ever hit with is a unmarked custom cue. But other than that one is my mezz. Both the hp1 shaft and the puj shaft hit fn great!!!

All mezz cues hit well. Especially their hybrid pro shafts. Not the hp2 but the hp1. Better than then alpha shaft for real

Jim's cue was a Coker.

I had a lil Al Romero sneaky that I want back. Right now, I'm still in love with my Runde paired up with an Anwar shaft.

I dont get it, why do we keep buying cues if we find one that we love. why not just keep using it for as long as possible?? heres a good question, whats the longest you ever played with one cue?? whoa, thread idea:dance:
