What Do You Aim With? Cue, Center Ball, Edge of CB or other?

What do you use to aim with? JT

Point of contact on the object ball along with perhaps the invisible ball contact point of the cue ball. Unless it's a difficult cut, bank, combo or combo+bank... I usually don't think too much over the contact and let my sub-memory do all of the geometry for me.
I once paid attention to my % of combos made after someone once asked on AZB how everyone else lined their combo shots up. I use the invisible ball technique and that day I was dropping about 75% of my combos.

I aim with my eye.
I use my eye to look down the line I want the CB to roll. I align the cue stick to the line.
Unless the shot is straight, I do not see the contact point on OB from here.
I do not use the edges of any ball, or the reflections off any ball to choose the aim point.

I aim with everything I got.
Any system I've seen detracts from this...

i aim with my eyes like previous posts and i do it without much thought, muscle memory and hand/eye stuff i guess. on difficult shots such as long cuts and combos I step back from the shot and align my entire body with the ball(s) i am going to strike and then i immedately shoot the shot. much like golfers do the plumb/bob thing except i don't use my stick as golfers use their putter; i use my entire body.

this belongs in the aiming thread. go there and you will find and answers

He's not asking which way is best, how to do it, or anything remotely related. He's asking how YOU, meaning us as individuals, aim. I use CTE since I learned it from Hal Houle over the phone about seven years ago and that's all I'm going to say. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure this will deteriorate into the usual nonsense arguing crap.

Equidistant Contact Point

What do you use to aim with? JT

I see my contact point I need to hit and see how far it is from the edge of the object ball. I aim the point that is the same distance from the edge of the cue ball to that point and it works.

Ive learned to aim first, arrive at a correct contact point and then bingo.

I aim with my eyes. Then I get down and shoot. If I have a tough shot I sometimes put the tip close to the object ball to see exactly where to hit and if I'm kicking or banking I'll use the diamonds and sometimes my cue to line it up. Mostly my eye though cause I try not to interfere with my subconscious that just wants to make the ball go into the hole.

i aim by feel. if i play for 5 or hours straight, i dont even look at the pocket. develop your own system, whatever works best for you, once I stopped "trying" to aim, i became more consistent. try them all and ull find whats best for you. theres no magic aiming system for a spherical object with unlimited possibilities and angles. THIS TRULY IS A BEAUTIFUL GAME.
