The Cue Has Started......Time to Get the Crown Resized

"Not on any planet will Bob Owen, Jerry R or Cohen (not yet) reach the level where Pete Tascarella is. Not now. Not ever. They are what they are. Decent cuemakers without waiting lists. They are hard workers and have a good market for people who buy cues in that price range."

Wow, Really??? Another well thought out condescending comment from CMD. What would we do without you around here?

I'll praise cues I see on here, based on the clear quality of the build. I won't condemn or criticize any cue maker until I've tried them, and find it interesting that so many will rank order cues by makers they've likely never tried. I've been playing all over the country (and Europe) for the past 26 years, I'd never heard of Tascarella until I joined this board about five years ago. I'd seen all the production cues, most imports, Szambotti (Gus), Balabushka, Richard Black, Tim Scruggs, Joss West, Black Boar, Ginas, Rundes, Rauenzahns, South West and numerous others in pool rooms all over the States, but never a Tasc. Saw my first one 6 months ago in person. Definitely a high quality cue, I'd love to have one...interesting his reputation (I'm sure well earned) is the highest on this board, but I've only seen one in a pool room, and that was in PA. I've seen more authentic Balabushkas in action than Tascarellas. I'm very curous how many that own a Tasc and claim he's in a class all his own have ever actually seen any of the other HoF cue makers' cues? Maybe he is the best (although I'll bet Searing and Hercek would be tough to beat). I'll continue to lust over all the cues I see on this site, but as to all the hoopla over who's cues are the best, the only opinion that matters to me is mine.

I have owned, played with, or examined every cue you mention and many many many, did I say many :), more. Tascarella cues though different in some construction techniques are on par with ANY maker including Denis and Joel.... His work is top tier. Has been since the 70's.

You may find some makers who's cues sell for more on the open market but none that make a "better" cue IMO

Hey bob,

Do you know how to quote someone yet? It's easy - hit the "QOUTE" button. Then type your comments underneath.

To CMD et al......

The only nit here was me...."bavafongoul" and my behavior. Dom is trying to express his opinion and in doing so, it came across as a defense of what I posted.
I do hope everyone will keep in mind....and hopefully believe me....that I did not do it with malice, or much forethought, for that matter.

I appreciate Dom's viewpoint but he shouldn't take fire over my actions. The bulls eye target deserves to be entirely on my back and stupidly, I put it there. If anyone
wants to poke fun at my taste in cues, well, my long awaited new custom arrives next week. It's something I designed so it may turn out to look horrible and after my
cue-maker posts photos in the Cue Gallery next week, everyone can go to town ridiculing my pool cue.

My point is is I am the center of this cyclone I stirred up and at some point, hopefully, all this wind dies down. Meanwhile, my turn is in the barrel next week and everyone
can take pot shots at criticizing or praising my cue. It doesn't matter because the cue is finished and so it is what it is.....I can't change anything or tinker with its design
now. The jury is still out right now but the final verdict will be rendered next week.

Matt B.

Matt, I don't read a lot of what you type because it is too long winded (real talk). However, I read most of this debacle and it takes humility to apologize on a forum. I think everyone should let you slide on this one. You are excited about your cue; which you should be. I'm looking forward to seeing it. CMD seems like a good dude too. If you met in real life I bet y'all would get along just fine and discover that you have a lot in common.
