Ordering on the Phone

Hey,

My dad decided to buy me a pool cue that I want as a college graduation gift (picked up my Associates in Psych and he thinks it's a major deal) but doesn't want to put his CC info online.

Can you order from OzoneBilliards or Seyberts via phone? and if so has anyone ever ordered this way?

I am no expert but it is much safer doing it online then telling your card number to a stranger and having them write it down. When done on line I believe no one ever sees your information at all it is encrypted. You are at more risk every time you hand your card to a live person like a waiter.

I wouldn't imagine why you wouldn't be able to order by phone. If your dad is that worried about giving out card information he might be better off mailing a check. Just curious, what kind of cue did you decide to get?

I'm going with a Pure X HXT30 - I hit a few balls with it at the local shop but it's not officially open yet so I can't buy anything there (and it's at a marked up price) but I like it.

Hits nice, feels smooth when I stroke, and has the 'sound' that I like to hear when shooting. It comes with a Kamui Black Soft (and I like softer tips I found out).

Perfect fit for me ^_^

Not a bad cue at all. Looks very nice. The Kamui Black Soft tips are great. They are some of my favorite tips to use. I currently use a Kamui clear super soft and love the action you get out of them. Best of luck on getting your cue!

Before there was an internet and online ordering, people used to order by telephone all the time. Its my understanding that if you use a credit card over the telephone, its covered by existing mail and wire fraud laws, whereas online transactions may not. The laws and penalties haven't caught up with technology. If you have any concerns about liability, you should contact your credit card issuer.

Go to any Wal-Mart or dollar store pick up a pre paid gift card as close as you can get to the amount of the gear you want.. and burn up he change on iTunes...if someone steals the card number they end up with the 12¢ you couldn't spend... big deal:grin-square:

That's how I shop online

Both are great to deal with. Have purchased online and by phone with both. Never had a problem.

FYI. All your information is online wether you like it or not. Bank accounts, credit cards, pretty much everything you wouldn't want hacked into is out there. Even if you don't order online technology already has thrown you in the mix.

Tell him not to worry about ordering online, every other day some store's database gets hacked and they steal credit card info from that. His card number is probably already in China waiting to get used to buy some thief a nice TV.

I assume you hit with it at Sapphire. They'll sell it to you even though the pro shop isn't open yet. If he's that concerned about his credit card number just walk in there with cash and pay their price. That's the ultimate protection for his credit card numbers.

P.S. That cue is hideous.

I have a debit card that I use for online purchases. I transfer the amount needed for an online purchase to the card right before I submit the order. If anyone ever gets that account info, there will be no money in the account for them to take.

P.S. Enjoy your new cue and congrats on your degree.
