What do you do when you're in "The Seat"

I usually stand off to the side, stick in hand, and try to predict the order he'll run it out. I feel like it's a good mental exercise. Even if he has no chance to run it out, I try to think about what order of events can break out his balls, make his shots, where he might safety me. Last night I remember one table where I thought in my head "4, 7, 1, 8." And was correct in that, but was surprised when he came for a different leave off of the 4 to get the 7, to give himself a cleaner make on the 1 and drop the 8. Seeing how I was wrong about the way he'd play the 4 helps me moving forward, giving me new ideas for playing a similar situation (he had to deal with some balls on the rails).

Play Angry Birds on my phone.

Depends what and who im playing. If its rotation then i let my mind wander slightly if my opponents decent and just get ready to rack em up. Against a player i don't think will run out on me, im looking for when and how he will play safe. In games like 8 ball where he has his balls, i have mine im looking at what situation he is in. If he has a tough lay out im looking at where he is going to leave me safe then planning how id get out from there, or how id return a safe from there. In a game like snooker my mind is completely else where, im thinking about what i can make for dinner, what's on tv etc. I know in snooker will have a choice of balls to hit, either he misses and leaves me 1 or 2 possible pots or im stuck behind baulk and i have to return the favour and do the same to him.

A lot of people will say they analyze their opponent, look out for where his weak points may be. Ive never done that unless its so blatant i cant miss it. Im sure people just say stuff like that because they know that's what the mass on here believe to be correct. A small percentage will actually do it though.

I've always found it an odd way to approach the game. I agree that most won't actually do it.

I just watch them play, congratulate them on the occasional good shot. Pool is a hobby for me. I just enjoy it.

I space out. It looks like I am paying attention, but you could probably chuck a cue ball at me an I wouldn't notice until I felt it hit my head.
