I wanna throw a 20 on top of the 50 it cost to do
What is the etiquette? Had a 1 piece converted. Was wondering what the common percentage be.
You want to tip him? Find him 5 more customers...
Do you tip the auto mechanic?
Do you tip your dentist?
I'm an auto mechanic, (technician) and I have some customers that tip me! Knowing who they are, I always give there vehicles a little extra love! Having said that, yes, I tip my cue maker. Every time I get my tips out on, it's usually 20-30 bucks, I give him 40! With the extra attention my shaft gets, well worth it! I look at it like this, if you take care of him, he will take care of you! He actually replaced my tip one time during a tournament. I said it felt kinda weird?!?!! He said can you use your back up? I said yeah, why? He took the shaft and in under 1 hr, I had my shaft back,,, perfect!!! How much did he charge me you ask? That was a freebie because of the commitment he has and pride he takes in his work! The tip was on for a little over a month and he felt he should of taken care of it!
The cue maker by the way is "Mike Webb"! You can't find better people than that man!!
Mike Webb is a great guy, the only time I had a tip job go bad is when I had someone else do it aside from him. I have not given him any extra though, but if he ever is looking for a computer I'll hook him up, same with anyone else that I deal with that does good work for me. I'm going to "tip" my son's guitar teacher with a computer setup this Thursday
How's that laptop running liakos BTW? Still going?
I have tipped mechanics and plumbers and as a mover a tip was expected
About ten percent of my customers tip. It is not expected!
Larry
About ten percent of my customers tip. It is not expected!
Really? I am in the wrong business.
Over the last 35 years I have repaired or completely restored thousands of guitars, banjos, fiddles, cellos, basses, ukuleles, harps, bows... even the occasional zither. Not once has anyone offered to tip me.
Instead, I have had countless people ask for a discount. Students want discounts, teachers want discounts, professionals want discounts, amateurs want discounts, wholesalers want discounts, retailers want discounts. I always say they same thing in response: I give a discount to everybody. It's built into the price of every repair I do.
You think pool players have a sense of entitlement? Try dealing with musicians.![]()
I just need to get these worked on / repaired
No discount required, and I will even tip
Strat....................1996 Fender 50-years of Fender Commemorative model-Black
needs a new jack and some basic tune-up
Strat.....................Old sunburst Floyd Rose American Classic
The Floyd Rose tremelo bridge is a pain in the ass, I need somebody to go completely through it, like starting over
Then I might sell it
Grestch.................Electromatic, needs some minor neck work, maybe the frets
It's a Guitar Center guitar, kind of like a production cue
Ovation Citation....Housing or bracket that holds the internal battery broke.
This is a older, rare Ovation
Guild D-25M..........Really old, I bought it in 1972, needs a refinish
My daily player>>
There must be plenty of guys working on electrics in Colorado, though. Or are they all too stoned to work now that weed is so easy to get?![]()
