2014 World 9-Ball: SVB vs. Jung-Lin play by play

Rack #11: SVB to break

SVB makes a ball with shape on one ball. 2-6 combo next, but not sure he'll have shape if he makes it. Not to worry about that, as he misses the off angled combo.

JL has a cut shot on two ball, must travel up and down table for position. He executes superbly. Looks like JL will take advantage of another SVB error.

JL attempt to nudge 8 ball off rail for better position fails, but still has run out possibility. He's on the 8 ball (frozen to side pocket rail)...makes it and has shot on 9 ball. Similar to one SVB missed earlier...he rifles it in.

6-5 SVB

What a monster this Chang is seriously, he didn't figure out the break but put on a fight to keep up in score. Shane's having a really tough opponent here.

Rack #12: JL to break

This is race to 11

JL makes two balls on break, with a shot on one ball. JL runs out.

Tied ball game. 6-6

Rack #13: SVB to break

SVB breaks and makes two balls, has a tough shot on one ball (reaching, position on next ball) but he makes it. SVB running out.

7-6 SVB

Rack #14: JL to break

JL examines rack and decides to request a re-rack. JL accepts...makes 3 balls on the break, with a possible cut shot on one ball in the side. Two ball tough to get shape on with this layout.

JL opts to bank one instead (auto shape on 2 ball) and misses. SVB a chance to take one back. Makes a great shot on one ball, two ball and has an out. SVB runs out.

8-6 SVB

What a monster this Chang is seriously, he didn't figure out the break but put on a fight to keep up in score. Shane's having a really tough opponent here.

Chang is sensational, a top 10 player in the world without quiesiton. He went double hill in the final of the 2013 Japan Open. vs. Ko Pin Yi, so his pedigree in WPA events, which has been strong for a long time, is also proven in recent play.

Shane is a slight favorite in this one, but JL Chang is the kind of guy you have to beat if you want to win WPA World Championships. I think Shane will beat him, but this match will help Shane to prepare for the kind of opponents found in WPA World Championships.

I'm hoping it's Shane's week.

Rack #15: SVB to break

SVB finds no discrepancy with rack, breaks, makes a ball, has favorable 1-8 collision that aligns a great shot on the one ball. 3 ball shape a little touchy...he gets good'nuf on it. SVB runs out.

9-6 SVB
