1 thru 10

we welcome ideas

best wishes to everyone participating

PS Jerry had a beautiful cue for me almost done when he realized
there was a small difference in the order and would not allow me to take it anyway

So,someone can get a really fancy knockout cue quick for only $2100 if they call now

I did a google search and found this.....

You don't need specialized software to get an accurate result for a random drawing. Although Excel is primarily known for its use as a financial tool, it has other functions that will generate a random number that you may use to determine the winner of a random drawing. A numbered list of entrants together with Excel's random number generator will give an instant answer. Using Excel to pick a winner also provides an unbiased result. There's also Random Picker.

Random Picker helps you draw winners for your contests, giveaways, raffles or lotteries. It does not organize any contests or lotteries, Random Picker is just a random generator.

The other big website seems to be Random.org

RANDOM.ORG offers true random numbers to anyone on the Internet. The randomness comes from atmospheric noise, which for many purposes is better than the pseudo-random number algorithms typically used in computer programs. People use RANDOM.ORG for holding drawings, lotteries and sweepstakes, to drive games and gambling sites, for scientific applications and for art and music. The service has existed since 1998 and was built by Dr Mads Haahr of the School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College, Dublin in Ireland. RANDOM.ORG is operated by Randomness & Integrity Services Ltd. RANDOM.ORG has generated 1.78 trillion random bits for the Internet. community.

Anyway, as I commented to Jerry & Dean, as far as I'm concerned Jerry can just toss ten numbers in a hat and his wife can pick the winner. All of us have exactly the same amount of skin in this cue project and so whatever everyone would like to do is perfectly fine with me. I'm just glad to be part of this group and look forward to seeing my cue come to life.......hopefully not a Frankenstein. I'm still pondering how to use those acrylics for rings in my cue. Any of you thinking of doing something like that?

When our cues are done, let's hold a poll for the best of the best....it might be fun to do or is that just too corny? I'm excited about this and hope the rest of you guys are too. Anyway, I have this intuitive feeling that Doc has the inside track in any cue design race......hee...hee....hee....that rascal.........what a befitting handle.....love it......mine is just blunt and a little coarse.

Out of the last 20 draws there were only 7 draws where a number 10 or lower didn't come
up. That means 13 times one did, sometimes two.

So if you just designate the starting draw and the designate that if more than one comes
up 10 or lower you'll use the first one. You shouldn't have to wait long, maybe a couple
of weeks at most. (two drawings a week) There were never 3 drawings in a row where a
low number didn't come up in the 20 drawing sample I used.

Thanks Matt. The Doc part I got from the service. The rascal came from an old friend who referred to some buddies and myself as "those rascals" .

I'm good with whatever Jerry decides for the method of choosing. Could use PowerBall.
I don't understand how I have the inside track on a cue design?
I'm excited about this also Matt. It's a huge order for me. My largest to date.

Rascal,

I think we discussed cue designs and veneers in the beginning of the month. You've seen what I went with and some of the other veneers that Jerry has posted photos.
So you're able to see some of the different combinations which helps making your choice for veneer colors. There's been some nice ones and look at how many more are
yet to come.......I am really looking forward to seeing progress photos of everyone's cues.....I know how mine will turn out since Jerry has a photo of the cue....I'm debating
about using the acrylics for rings but aside from that, no surprises to my design. I'm eager to see what everyone has come up with. It's going to be fun watching this evolve.

set up a 10 ball rack, break the rack and the first ball that goes in on the break will be the number drawn, and video tape it. The rack can be set up with the balls in no organized manner. IE the 10 ball doesn't have to be in the middle, just grab the balls and rack and break. ITs a random ball that will fall in some way or another. its never the same.

I'm going with an idea Jerry suggested after he heard what I wanted. My idea for veneer colors had not worked well in Jerry's experience. He had an idea said he hadn't seen that sounds great to me so that's what we went with. This is going to be fun but I bet its going to feel like sloooow. When I googled Balabushka images half of the pictures I was able to pull up was cues Jerry had done in the past. That's a good sign! If any one needed one.

I went with Black/Grey/Red/Maple...abalone inlays and silver rings, should be sweet!

It's a pool themed drawing. Put balls 1-10 in a bag and pull them out one at a time, putting them into a rack (10 ball style). Then have Jerry or someone else relevant break and see which ball drops first. There's your winner. You can video it just in case more than one ball drops on the break to have proof of which went first. Just a random idea off of the top of my head.

If the Powerball number goes over 10 just drop the leading number.

11 = 1
32 = 2
53 = 3
14 = 4
55 = 5
26 = 6
47 = 7
38 = 8
19 = 9
40 = 10

Pretty simple that way and you can pick the winner immediately.

I like it! powerball number...single digit, or last number is it goes into double digits...

Can't do the powerball thing because it only goes to 35 so numbers 1 through 5 will have 4 balls each and 6 through 9 and Zero (i.e. #10) will only have 3 balls each. So it gives you an advantage to be 1 through 5. The actual Powerball only goes to 35 the rest of the numbers go to 59.

Oh I didn't know they only went to 35.

I guess you could add all the numbers drawn, divide by 6, round to the nearest whole number, then use the formula above.

Haha

But doesn't the powerball numbers only go from 1 to 35? So doesn't 1 through 5 have higher chances than 6 through 9 & 0?

You could do it and only use numbers 1-30 to make it even for everyone.

If by chance 31-35 came up just wait till the next drawing.

How about the first number drawn then....

How about Dean just figures out how he wants to do it, and just announces who won. No Arguments, no questions. He has the reputation to be honest to do it. Boom. Problem solved.
