What cue is this, and what's it worth?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum.. I just bought this cue for what I believe to be a good deal. It is a McDermott. Has the clover leaf on the butt cap and a little one near the top of the base with genuine written under it. Medium to hard tip on it. No wrap. Brand new with my chalk being the first applied. Rolls straight and shoots like a dream. Shaft is flexible unlike my old viper. Its the normal thick threaded pin like I've seen on other McDermott. Still, I haven't found this pattern on any website thus far to get an estimate on the price.

Doesn't look like any mcd I have ever seen, but I am far from smarted up on them.

Who cares if it is made of poo? If it feels right to you, you got a good one.

Well, perhaps 'poo' was a bad example of material.

It looks like an sp1 kinda but not really. plus all of those star cues have the clover leaf and say star under them. Mine says genuine.

It's a cheap overseas made cue. You can easily tell just by looking at the paint job, it does not even look like wood stain, just someone with a brush painted over the wood.

I have a feeling McDermott will soon fall into the other once strong brands like Westinghouse, Polaroid, Nakamichi and will sell out their name to cheap producers of crap products that just pay for a known name.

wow really?

Yes really. They are not easy to find but this one sold for $40 in the UK http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/McDermott...rand-new-Unique-Dragon-graphics-/160868704003

Since they are decal cues, the prices will be just about the same for any of them since the only difference in what the look like is what the stickers look like. One sticker costs as much as another since it's not actual inlays that require work to install.

Hopefully you did not buy it at a "real" McDermott price. If that cue was a US made McDermott with inlays it would be near $1,000 new with that type of work.

$75 for it. It does shoot well. Played a lot of 9ball with it last night and it certainly shot better than the viper I'm used to.

Funny part is that the ebay seller that had the Genuine McDermott cue for sale also sells Viper cues.

Not a great buy at $75 but as long as you like it...

Since there is so little info on this series I'm guessing it got absorbed or changed to the Lucky or Star brands.

The McDermott Genuine series was a run a cues that McDermott made years back, this is not one of them.

True I still haven't found any info on the Genuine series. Google doesn't usually disappoint.

I don't want to burst your happy bubble, because if you like it, it does not matter what it is, but you may have a fake. Any McDermott made in the USA has the McDermott stamp on the butt sleeve. All McDermotts made over seas have the stamp on the forearm, like yours. However, they are stamped with the clover and the "brand" name; such as: Lucky or Star.

same cue looks like http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-2-Piece-Mcdermott-Pool-Cue-/221447303520

This may be out of the same shop that sold Joss II cues on ebay, basically just stole the trademark to use.

I think you got porked, but if the cue is straight and you like the way it hits, a few bucks is insignificant.
Also, you could package it with your Viper cue and trade up><
