Just wondering on the legality and interest...

Who is going to buy the tournament spot early enough to hold it? Also most tournament directors want the name of the player when the spot is purchased.

Sounds like fun, but if I won, and could even afford the trip, it would be embarrassing, tbh. An APA 3 in the U.S. Open. On second though, I'd at least be able to say I had the Juevos to do it.:grin-square:

I'm in for $20. PM me your paypal address. Do we send it as a "Gift" to avoid Paypal fees?

However, don't put my name in the lottery. I'm trying to keep a low profile (unknown monster) until the time is right. :D:D:D At the Chicago get-together I think I did a good job of sandbagging.

Working out the ... Gonna take $20 application fees for the job description of AZ onsite reporter... Salary to be $1000 paid US Open entry + whatever other expenses we can cover for a weeks work.. You can apply for the job as often as you want but each application will require the processing fee of $20...;) As such you will be given a number for each application.. IF your number is pulled using a major lottery tbd then you can either accept the job or pass on it if you cannot fill the position for the days needed of your time....

I did a little research and it appears application fees are a legitimate business practice... As far as qualifications.. You must be able to write coherently and be a member here on AZ... With those qualifications using the lottery is as good as any way to get the proper person in the job and I would not want outsville to show favoritism to any member so I would want the drawing public...... ;);)

Anyone see any thing in that approach that should be rethought out???

Chris

In 2005, AZB sent me to the us open, about 1.2k was collected. After hotel/ daily expenses, i think I was a couple hundred out of my own pocket, even though I beat a guy out of about 260.

My recollection is that a $20 donation got 1 vote and the funds were presented to me by PayPal a couple days prior to the event.

The thread is here somewhere, I went 2/out...iirc, lost to Dave grossman 11-9 and then Matt krah 11-10.

I'd contribute to future ventures of the type. It was a great time and opportunity (thanks again, AZB).
