Emily duddy pro or no

she's a pro on the female side. she's a B on the mens. women can argue alll they want

that they can do anything men can do, but lets be real. as in come back to reality. mo'ne

davis from the little league is throwing 70mph fastballs, in five years that number will go

up maybe 3 or four mph, but her teamate who throws 68mph in five years will be

throwing 87-89mph. womens pro basketball against mens pro basketball would be like

watching one of us play against an 11 year old, they can throw up a shot and get lucky,

but ill swat down anything that comes near the rim. football?:rotflmao1:

hockey?:rotflmao1: should I continue??

ok, now the argument is that pool doesn't need power or speed or height and any

other physical attribute. ok. what about the break? long pots? creativity?? stroke??

you think im wrong, go watch some videos of the womens matches. they are very

mechanical. slow paced and play far more safties. in the end theres maybe two or

three women that could have competed in the mens tournies. and as far as duddy's looks, well, she may seem attractive for a pool player but she's really not pretty at all.
pretty looks more like the other one

WELL SAID .

Fasteddie doesnt have a problem with the fact that She calls herself a pro. What he has a problem with is the fact that she IS a pro, and RANKED as a PRO. Yet she is allowed to play in an amature event. I personally agree with Fasteddie. If you are Ranked as a pro you shouldnt be allowed to enter Amature events. Yes I agree that she really is about a C+ to B- at best, yet the womens governing bodies of pool recognize her as a PRO.....End Of Story... BTW would you let Karen Coor play in the amatures I didnt think so.......Rank is Rank......period.....

Karen is AA...not b+ like the person being discussed...lets not confuse aa with b+...there is a bit of difference there.

I was going to argue the point more, but I figure whats the point. I will mention however that Im pretty sure, you and fasteddie are good examples of why most normal people stay away from leagues (too many stupid nits). You are a league player, right?

Wow, this thread is amazing.

Emily already actively plays in amateur mixed tournaments in the NYC area as a B+. No one complains. You know why ? Because her rating in amateur mixed tournaments is a B+. Karen Corr actively plays in pro mixed tournaments. You know why ? Because her rating in mixed tournaments is pro.

Is it so hard to understand that ratings/rankings are relative to the competition ? Her ranking in the WPBA is in relation to other WOMEN in the WPBA. The ranking is based on points which add up from the # of WPBA tournaments you play and your finish spot. Someone could have a higher ranking because they simply played in more tournaments.

Seems like the people who are upset about this feel threatened that a woman has a equal and fair chance to be in the money in a mixed tournament or feel jealous/envy that someone is getting benefits/perks from playing pool because she markets herself as a pro.

What does someone playing in a league have to do with anything?

I can say that, as it appears obvious that you don't play in a league, and show very little class by making such a statement. So class has little to do with whether one plays in a league or not.

It has far more to do with who you see in the mirror.

Well said. Tap, tap, tap.

, well, she may seem attractive for a pool player but she's really not pretty at all.

Oh, c'mon. You're gonna rate her looks against a SUPER MODEL ??? She is a good looking woman, very nice figure, and dresses well, and plays pool, what's not to like.

Over 90% of the guys that are single would date her if given the chance, and at least 50% of the married guys would ;)

She would not be considered a pro by world men's rankings, so equality wod not come into it.
Sir, what you (and many others in this thread) are trying to debate is skill level and that has nothing to do with whether she is a pro or not. I'm not knocking her skill level because I actually think she can play (although I'd love to meet up with her in a tournament). However, world rankings does not determine if one is a pro or not (man or woman). By definition, a pro is someone that makes their income by doing an activity or by doing something related to that activity. If she has pool sponsors, if she gets paid to make appearances at pool events, and if someone pays her to play pool (likely in the form of tournament entry fees paid by a sponsor) then she is a professional pool player.

well, she's trying to cash in on her "looks", check her website. so going up against a model who cashes in on her looks is a reasonable way to compare, I can find other female athletes to compare her to if you like.(jennifer baretta ok?) and sry, she's not attractive in the least bit.
horny and lonely middle aged and older men's opinion is not to be taken into account.

Who cares?! There's a girl at my pool hall who is in the same boat! She has the same PRO title. Is sponsered by Ariel carmeli, black heart tips, and she's a five in the APA.

But the most important part you're overlooking is... They act like professionals, promote the sport better then half of the men, and can create an appeal to the general public about our sport.

Ppl complain about how the pros dress, act, etc. but the women don't act out of line. Why do you think the general public would prefer to watch the women then the men. Don't be an idiot and say its bc they're hot. If they wanted hot girls they would watch porn. The women carry themselves way better then the men.

They learn all the little things first as their games improve. Much like a well built athlete that has no skills but the right body and physique.

Don't get me wrong it does sadden me GREATLY to watch some of these girls play but I give them credit for understanding the big picture and where they can go with it just by "acting professional".

I could think of a a handful of guys who could play pro but they're too retarded to understand what it takes to get sponsors and noticed. They would rather just dress like thugs, talk about how good they are, and where the next score is. If they just did what the girls do then they and the sport might have had a chance.

This is the best take on this thread. Excellent points. Tap tap tap for sure.

Whenever this debate comes up, I always revert to golf....annika wanted to play in men's tournaments which was admirable. When she did, she teed off from the men's distance, she didn't play with the men but request the women's tee handicap. That was even more admirable.

guys at one point i was like 128th or something close,i cant play a radio next to a real pro..i just happened to play in multiple events and won a few matches...nobody confused me with archer

Yes, but nobody is claiming she is a super model, geez, get a grip. if she walked in any bar in Amercia, she's gonna be noticed.

Many female athletes have done this, including our very own black widow. And Ms. Lee is good looking, but she is few notches below super model status.

Sex sells, or have you not noticed? I'd love to see a photo of your "partner" for comparison purposes, I mean, if you could stand the "heat"

I went to two Magic 8 Ball online sites and asked if Emily Duddy was a professional pool player. The first said no, and the second said it was doubtful. It didn't ask about gender, income level, or for a current definition of "professional" as it relates to pool. To be thorough, I asked if she was an amateur and the Magic 8 Ball demurred, saying it "cannot predict now," so I guess the battle continues.

Also, the second website logged all of the questions and answers... if your name is Shaun, you may be getting murdered soon by a stalker-level girlfriend. Seriously.

I think the tournament director and participants can figure out for themselves what level of player they're comfortable with having in their events.

hey, I don't knock her, I hope she makes a million dollars. but in reality she won't be noticed for her looks, and we came here to judge pro or amateur status, and she's an amateur in skill level. her pro status is if she can make money playing pool, as in tournies, and as far as I know, shes not living off pool.

She probably works harder at her game, her brand to gain various sponsors that she can promote, and playing the part of a professional, more then 99% of this forum would if given the chance.
Whats wrong with someone working hard for what's in their best interests?

Regardless of her ability, she promotes the game better then a lot of the world class jam up playing slob/scumbags do.
