Rattle in butt

Absolutely love this cue.

Not sure what to do with this one.

I can see there's 'something' in there. If I tap it with an allen wrench I can hear that it's metal. Under bright light there is a little shine to it. But no size wrench will catch and turn it..

I want to play with the cue but this loose bolt in the buttsleeve is driving me crazy.

Any ideas/suggestions...?

Maybe not the right tool for the job?

Not positive, but from the picture it looks like a Torx head bolt to me, my guess is around a T-30. Never seen one in a cue, but they are common in the automotive industry. Hope this helps, and sorry if I'm wrong! -Josh

Edit: Didn't notice this was in the "Ask A Cuemaker" forum! My response probably should have been by PM. I will try to pay closer attention in the future.

I agree, looks like a torx bolt also. Before doing any drilling , etc, try different size torx drivers.

I could be way off base with this one, but I suspect what you are looking at is a combination of epoxy and tungsten powder that was added for weight and then drill out slightly.
Maybe there is a weight bolt behind that.

It looks like a canvas phenolic plug that has been drilled out and held with a torx head bolt.
