Just saw USA vs Croatia match.
In rack 4, Shane took off the butt sleeve from his playing cue to jump a shot.
His cue also seems longer.

Is Shane using a new cue?
Or is his cue modified at the butt sleeve?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure he's just using an extension, but leaving it on the whole time.

He took it off for the jump shot, as attempting to jump with a longer than average cue would be quite a task I'd guess, lol. But removing the extension just brought his cue down to normal size.

What happened to the joint on his cue? Looks like the finish got knocked off recently, pretty bad, too. Maybe some sort of repair, without a refinish? I've noticed it for about a month or more, looks like something happened to it...

Yeah I noticed that too. Its like there's bare wood above and below the joint. Longer shaft or butt that cuetec made for him? There is still a logo on the shaft so I assuming its still a cuetec shaft butt maybe the butt was modified? Just looked a little weird on the close up shots of his cue.

It's a beat all to hell, stock cuetec r360 with cuetec smart extension. He's been using the same cue for something like five years. It's just a piece of equipment to him. If it stopped playing well, im sure he'd get a new one. But until then this one is getting it done.

There's no telling how many hours are on that cue. It's probably some kind of record

Wonder what the collector value of SVB's Cuetec will be when he's done playing with it?

The only thing special about Shane's cue is that he uses a different ferrule. No other modifications.

Yes it's the Indian...but the Indian doesn't have to shoot with a crappy bow, just because he's good enough to beat anyone with it. If the CueTech didn't shoot/feel as good or better to him than his Mom's old Schon R series cue, he'd still be using that one...but apparently his buddy's old CueTech felt good to him, and he's tinkered with the ferrel, tip and extension to perfect it, so that's what he's sticking with. Some of the best hitting cues I've ever tried cost less than $200.

Earl put Mike Gulyassy through hell to perfect his "javelin", and he loves it (told me so the one time I met him)...Shane started with something off the shelf and got there himself. Most production companies have figured out how to make a pretty darn good baseline cue and perfected their process...nothing wrong with them, and with a few modifications it will play perfect for you, a custom maker would have to kill himself to replicate the process, since he's starting from scratch and maybe not the same place.

There is also no steel butt cap on the cue that he is currently playing with.

Yes there is actually.

When looking at the end of the cue you are actually looking at a 4-6" extension (not sure of length).

The silver, chrome ring is still there but albeit in front of the extension he has been using lately.

I actually looked at 2 videos to verify before addressing your statement. The WCOP match with Croatia and the $2k 1p match with Alex and discovered the chrome trim ring is still there.
