How about a video of a 'bank round the table' test ? (see post 31 & 34 from link below)

Hard as you can hit it without it jumping off the rail. (use some low & maybe a little bit of running ?)

I know the standard figures are for a 9 foot table, but you could do a "Bob Jewetts Cloth Speed Test" as well for interest. (looks like you'd maybe get 10 seconds ? or more ?)

I like playing on blue cloth and the Gorina A cloth is an 18 oz which only comes in green. I have the 17 oz cloth which comes in blue also. http://www.muellers.com/Granito-M-Cloth,2014.html

You may already know all this but here goes anyway.

Granito M is in fact Carom Cloth. That's what I've put on my table for decades. I wouldn't think it would work well for pool as is your experience. "A" is also Carom cloth. Never played on it to my knowledge but again wouldn't recommend it for pool.

Simonis 760 or Granito Tournament 2000 is very fast but made for pool. Slower than Granito "M"or "A" and Simonis 300 carom cloth.

Simonis 860 and Granito Basalt is slower pool cloth. All 4 of these 760, 860, 2000, & Basalt IMO are in the fast cloth category - no to almost no knap.

Telling you how fast your table should play is not possible. But with your rails as lively as you say 860 or Basalt may be right. If you're looking for just a touch slower than "M" but still like plenty of speed then go with the 760 or 2000.

If interested in Simonis you can purchase 760 and 860 off the AZbilliards web site. There's other places for this too and also Granito. Just have to search the web. My last Granito purchase went to Buffalo Billiards in Petaluma, CA. Nice guy and very quick shipment.

For 14.1 you don't really want a fast cloth sice you are not sending the cueball up and down the table all the time like you do in rotation games, and you are moving small amounts from ball to ball.

The Simonis 760 is a good low fast speed. The 860 is probably between what you have and the 760.

That last cushion (9th to 10th cushion) was quite a distance & took quite some time !

Looks to me like ur rails aren't *too* lively (by average pool table standards) - but yeah ur cloth seems way faster than "average pool table standards".

I've got regular 860 on my 9 footer and I have always felt like my rails are perhaps slightly less lively than average standard (or what my preference would be) But, the round the table test gives me 8 cushions. (just) which is apparently not below 'average standard' ? So go figure / take from that what you will...

Be interesting to see you do another round the table test once you get ur new (slower) cloth on.

As I mentioned in the 14.1 forum, your table measures at about 0.55% equivalent uphill slope judging from your lag time. That's very, very fast for a pool table.

Can you get the 11th cushion when the cloth is new?

Never tried. This cloth was put on July 6th 2013.

If you want to try now, you might grease up the cue ball with silicone spray (like ArmorAll) but you will need to clean it afterwards. The reduced friction keeps the cue ball from losing energy between the first several cushion contacts as it is sort of skimming over the cloth rather than rubbing on it and converting speed into follow.
