Jeanette doing very well, considering she's not even on the WPBA top 100, and often isn't thought of as being in top form anymore. Good for her.

Sad to see Yu Ram Cha knocked out. I read somewhere that she actually gets followed around by fans taking photos whenever she's in China.

Just saw the quarterfinal matchups. Did the brackets just work out that way, or were they redrawn? Just seeing the matchups, definitely reeks of favoritism for the mainland Chinese.

From single elimination last 32 onwards no redraw.
China players make up most of the last 32 and most were eliminated by their own players eg like Fu XiaoFang. They dominate the womens world rankings now so do not think they need to redraw. 5 of last 6 W9B won by China players

True, they really don't need any help. Just funny it worked out that way.

Honestly, would be interesting to see Han Yu repeat. Hasn't been a repeat champ for a while.

Edit: just checked the WPA website. Last true repeat champ was Allison, in 98, winning three in a row. Ga Young Kim won in 04 and 06, with no event in 05.

A superstrong last 8 for sure. My pick to win it all is Han Yu, whom I believe to be the best player in the world right now among the women.
