Another 10 ball question

WPA 10 ball, my opponent calls the 9, makes it, and the cue ball knocks the 10 in on the same shot.

He goes over to rerack and I tell him to spot the 10 ball and keep shooting. Then we call the TD over and he says it's a win because the 9 amd 10 are the last balls on table... WTF?

So, is it a win, or does the 10 respot?
 
As you said -- spot the 10 and he keeps shooting:

9.9 Spotting Balls
If the ten ball is pocketed on a foul a push out or during the break shot, or without calling it, or accidentally in the wrong pocket, or driven off the table, it is spotted. (See 1.4 Spotting Balls.) No other object ball is ever spotted.
 
I assume he is EX TD. That's pretty basic. If you cant master that one, you prolly should hang up your directing spurs. Hope it didnt cost you the set.
 
I did end up losing the match but it was just one game in along race. It just amazes me how many good players (and TDs) don't know the correct rules though :angry:

Another one that came up at the same tournament, the object ball is nearly on the rail and halfway inside the pocket jaws and I aim to hit the rail just before the ball to get shape on the next ball. After I shoot it, my opponent says you have to call it because you went rail first. :angry:

As a gentleman gambler Id have to call that BS, and let you continue..

But as a tournament nit, he is probably correct. :)

You're kidding right???? Some stupid bar rules are like that...but a real tounament....with a director???? Mitch
 
Wow, the rail first one would have startled me for second and I hope I would have
come back with "I think you need a stronger prescription, I did not hit the rail first."

And off course after that one the gloves are off.

Every rule set I've read says you only need to call the ball and the pocket. Anything else is irrelevant and not necessary to call.

Methinks you need a new TD.

He wasn't saying I needed to call the rail first contact, he said I needed to call the ball and pocket, which I didn't do because I barely hit the rail first and it was obvious that I was going to pocket it there. The TD didn't get involved this time... I just gave buddy a "You're kidding me, right?" look and he backed off and I kept shooting.

Good question, tough one, because if you shoot say the 5 ball, and made the 7, the 7 does not come out! why the 10 has too!

For this reason, rotation games should be played with no calling pockets.

Pretty tough to win with no 10b on the table though. It is different than the other balls, so I understand that it needs to have a different rule.

Next time he shot a ball on the rail you should have called him on hitting the rail first.

Crazy, He likely confused 10 ball with 8 ball. If it was 8 ball and there were some of your other balls on table, he could be right :)

Well, there has always been different rules for the last ball money ball in rotation-like when you break 9 ball is potted in 9 ball you win but why when you break and pot other balls in 9 ball you do not win?
