"Dead Rails"

It started out much like the other investigations, taking me through a journey of evidence and hints as to who who murdered who. What caught my attention, though, was a piece of green worsted cloth was found on the corpse.

I immediately knew it had to be from a pool table. But wait, there was also a piece of red snakeskin on the corpse. As it turned out, that came from the wrap on the cue.

I usually fall asleep early due to my odd work schedule, so I tape TV shows that I want to watch at a future time. One such TV show was CSI Las Vegas entitled "Dead Rails." It came on this past Sunday on CBS, the 10th episode of Season 15.

They showcased a ladies' pro tournament in Vegas, with a Jeanette Lee lookalike. I'm thinking, "Why couldn't get get Jeanette instead of using a look-alike?"

There was also a rundown billiard hall called "Rails" that was run by none other than Sharon Osborne's character. The blond CSI detective, of course, came with the answre as to what the green worsted cloth was because of her previous life as a pool player. :grin-square:

As luck would have it, I fell asleep before the end of it last night, so I'll have to watch the ending tonight to find out what happened.

Here's the hot pool player lady pro dressed to kill.

But did she do it? I'm not sure. The only thing I did find out was that she did a trick shot by shooting a ball between several dozen glasses on a pool table and then smashed the glasses with her cue. What kind of trick is that?

Here's another shot of the lady pro, who's pool name was The Hornet. She had a mechanical bridge in the shape of hornets that she said she sold. :embarrassed2:

I guess she's kind of easy on the eyes for some viewers. :thumbup:

And here's Morgan the CSI detective trying to hustle Hodges. She said she'd play him left-handed and give him all the breaks. Game on. Who's hustling who? ---> HERE

Here's a snapshot of the trick shot with the glasses. It was quite impressive. I'd love to know who the technical director was for this episode. I'll try to research and find out if it was somebody we know.

I was shocked, however, when they mentioned one character, Jimmy Torelli, a con man who was the best "one-pocket player." Are you kidding me? One-pocket got on mainstream TV? :grin-square:

Jimmy Torelli is played by CHristopher Atkins, a British pool hustle whose specialty is one-hole ---> CHEATING THE MARK

Yeah, she is quite lovely.

You should see the Jeanette Lee look-alike in this episode. I also kept trying to look at the spectators to see if there were any "real" pool players. I couldn't find any.

The jargon, though, used in this show rang true. Somebody had to give them some technical advice, I'm thinking. :wink:

I can't see if it's leather or cloth. The equipment looks better than other TV shows that have had pool as a theme, which kind of impressed me a wee bit.

I applaud CSI for having a billiard episode. I've never watched CSI Las Vegas, but I have seen the original CSI, some of CSI Miami, and CSI New York. It's a silly show for sure, but they keep it running so they are doing something right.

It is called creating a thread that has pool content with five initial posts. You should try it sometime. You might like it. It sure beats what you do, jumping in and out of threads, antagonizing for the pure fun of it to entertain yourself.

I agree. It is refreshing to see a TV show that has pool in it with realistic equipment, et cetera. Most of the TV shows with pool, I can see right through them, but this one did have an air of realism to it, which I liked. The Jeanette Lee look-alike was unbelievable. I wish they had called Jeanette instead.
