here is an idea, why don't you or anyone else go to stans youtube page and pic a video out, any video and we will discuss it and i will discuss all of them if you want. Relax on the 5 shot thing for now and we will get to it.... up to you

How did a thread that a person started asking for genuine advice turn into this crap? Westlife...sorry buddy, but your thread is gone. Hopefully you picked out some good advice before the crap started.

Rick, I'm going to be totally blunt with this. Every thread you get involved in in the aiming forum ends up in a complete and utter pissing match about CTE. Its happened far too often now for you not to take some responsibility for this. Either buy the dvds and try it or shut up. It does my head in with your constant questioning of the system when you cant be arsed taking the time to put anny real effort into it. I don't understand some things, but I don't derail threads, I don't start and participate in arguments about crap I don't know diddly about.

Timothy, Neil and Nob to some extent are all responsible for this turning sour too. They take the bait the fisherman casts out there. Arguing with a man who has nothing better to do than sit arguing on a forum is a lose lose situation lads. I feel your frustration and I've been guilty of biting so hard I chipped a tooth, but I've come to the realization that he isn't worth it and I was adding absolutely nothing of value to the forum by participating in a squabbling match with him.

Westlife, if you are really interested in learning how to aim at the invisible ball (or ghost ball as some call it) the send a pm to duckie. He will point you in the right direction to training aids and offer advice on how to practice it, I'm sure. All the best to you.

Or use different methods for different shots.

I use:

Overlaps for thin cuts. Although I don't assign actual number fractions to the overlap.

Contact points when OB-CB are close together.

Ghost ball for combinations.

Here's the thing.

You just want to pass the time & that at times seems to make you appear, at least to me & apparently a few others as being disingenuous or even to be trolling in order to solicit a response that will start a word war.

It's not about 'winning' anything. But it is about garnering a better true understanding & not what amounts to over zealous fanatical claims that can not be logically or rationally supported.

In a logical debate one side at times convinces the other side of their point & that side concedes that concession. At other times there is a stand off & neither side is successful of convincing the other side & hence no one 'wins' as you put it & there is no mutual 'true' understanding nor benefit from the 'debate'.

The 5 shot videos is what convinced me that CTE is not totally 100% objective so why stay off of it (at your dictate:wink:) as it is the crux of the matter.

Even John Barton once told me that even he had wished Stan had not made those videos.

Why would I want to waste my time going back & forth about other components of CTE? As I have said to others, I am not going to it, that is unless it proven to truly be a 100% totally 'objective' system or method.

I gave this hypothetical to mhort but he did not really take it up.

Picture yourself up in the blue sky with the two balls & no pockets or rails. Now...get the visual of CTE & ETA & come down for a thickening or thinning pivot & pivot to center. What angle outcome do you get?

Now do it over & over & over again. If done correctly the same...how many different angles would you get?

If the pockets & rails bring in no subjective input then how can one get a different angle for CTE & ETA with the same exact procedure & pivot?

The question is not IF one can do it. The question is not even how one can do it. The question is WHY can one do it AND does that answer involve nothing but 100% total objectivity.

To me & others the answer is no it does not.

It should not be on us to prove or show how it is not. It should be on the one making the claim that it is such that should be able to show & prove that it is what it is said to be.

Please believe me I would love for you, Stan or anyone to show & prove that it is 100% totally objective & does not rely on or require any other subjective input for it to work 100% of the time with no holes. If so, everyone will soon be using it, & I would too.

How does the exact same visual of the two lines put one into a different physical position. It can't, unless something that is not in my 'up in the sky hypothetical' comes into play. And that other thing, whatever it is, IS subjective because it is not a direct visual.

IMO & that of others it is irrational & illogical to think or say otherwise.

So...if CTE is not logical & not rational then what is it?

Is it mystical?

Is it out of the realm of science & logical & rational thinking?

Is it a phenomenon?

I can agree with calling it a phenomenon but not a 100% totally 'objective' phenomenon.

As I've said, IF the 5 shots each had a different solution then the system or method could be consider objective. But that is NOT what Stan has put forth.

I have no desire nor inclination to simply pass time. nor do I wish to consider mysticism or out of the realm of science or logic 'explanations'.

So...It would probably be better that we just drop the subject & agree that we do not agree with regards to the 'objectivity' of CTE.

That is unless you want to offer any concrete logical & rational support for your side other than I can do it & I'll bet I can do it, because that is no proof of what is actually happening.

There is logic even in the way the entire Universe acts.

So...I'll restate that the question at hand to me is why, not if, & not how, but why.

If you can answer the question why CTEis totally 100% objective, then please do so & please not in one word, like perspective. That answers the how the balls can be pocketed & has nothing to do with supporting that CTE is 100% totally objective. In fact it does just the opposite.

I hope we can get off to a good start or perhaps better yet no start at all if what you want to do is simply pass time & 'play'.

Where do you see me mentioning CTE or arguing with anyone on this thread? I made one post, offering advice to put the guy on ignore like I've done. What's sad is how admin apparently doesn't like flame wars in the aiming section but they continue to let English (and several others) post their crap unabated. English does his passive aggressive thing, spouting the same ole crap over and over and over and the Mods do absolutely nothing to stop it. It's painfully and blatantly obvious to anyone he has zero intention of adding anything to the conversation and equally obvious his only intention is to create an argument. Yet nothing, absolutely nothing, is done.

You are correct, however. People should completely ignore him. Perhaps he could then totally focus on his misogynistic ways of posting female images in the NPR. It's rather apparent this guy has some serious mental issues that he should have addressed before it worsens.
 
When was the last time anyone discussed CTE? Long long time ago. All anyone does with CTE now is argue. Its the best thing since sliced bread because [insert claim here]. Its like burned toast because [insert bash here]. That's the kind of crap I don't think contributes to this forum. I'd love nothing more than to sit down with you and have a beer, shoot some pool and have a civil discussion about CTE. Even if we were wasted and we didn't agree on things in sure we would still manage to agree to disagree and shake hands after. But for some reason when a computer is involved people act worse than drunks. I look forward to the day a civil discussion regarding CTE happens, in ita own thread not derailing anyone else thread but I honestly cant see it ever happening.

PS I gave westlife my advice in post #2 & followed with a PM & I tried to get the thread back on track. Perhaps some things should be worked out in PM but when that is attempted some bring it into the public realm & try to use it to their advantage. Like Timothy said there is a reason this subforum exists. I, like you, believe it or not, wish it could all be constructive. But differing minds & opinions will clash from time to time.

My post contributed in that I advised westlife to seek out help from duckie based on my opinion that duckie could help him with training aids and advice. The little paragraph at the bottom of my post, rick.

i only read the bold above. I am passing the time but with an informed and experienced opinion. I am not interested in a word war but to just talk about something i know about and interests me. These others you speak of have limited knowledge about the topic, so they cant go deep into a discussion and the frustration turns them into haters and they lash out.
