Firewood for your fireplace. Someone a while back said another company sent them some of these in one of their cases when they ordered one.
i got the same in my case, i believe the put it in the case for packing so the case stays flat !!

when i got mine, i brought it to my cuemaker to see if he could turn it into a shaft. and he said it wasnt worth the time or effort. just scrap wood !!

When the case sellers import stuff they include what looks like cue shafts. Mostly they are not suitable for using in a cue. When it comes time to describe the products for shipping....they are listed as cue parts......then the import fees are cheaper....which saves them and us some $$$$$.
Sounds like a very plausible answer. I wonder what Predator will say if and when they return my call.
I had the same experience with an inexpensive imported case from Seybert's. I called Seybert's to ask if they want me to return the shaft. They laughed. It's just so the exporter/importer can claim it's a cue part, which must have a lower tariff.
Cost of exporting, importing a case is much more than the cost of shipping a cue. They ship the junk shaft and the cue case is considered a shipping container. They save a lot of money.
If you have your own bridge head, and you have room in your case, keep the shaft. Without the tip it is easy to get the head on and off. You also avoid pulling your tip off. I have seen this with people using their bridge head on their break stick.

Had the same thing happen when I ordered the Predator 4x8 sport case from Pooldawg. They told me that the manufacturer does that so the case holds it's shape during shipping. It's basically fire wood. With mine though the shaft was pretty straight and I had just purchased my lathe, so this was the first blank that turned into a playable shaft, it turned out pretty good. Later I sold it to an aquaintence for $50, he is still using it today
