How about some love for John Morra

Shaw has been playing awesome, but Morra was right with him every step of the way. Great player!

You are right, he didn't get enough credit. I saw him at seventeen do the same thing, march through the turning stone undefeated only to lose to Johnny archer in a long race at the end.

Morra is as solid as anyone. His fundamentals are concrete. I believe what set him back was that five hour break waiting for Shaw to get through the last two matches. Shaw was on fire, and just had that little something extra in the end.

... I believe what set him back was that five hour break ...

He did have a long break, but not 5 hours. The hot-seat match ended at about 3:43 and the finals started at 7:00.

Shaw also had a wait; his semi-final match ended at about 5:22.

I think John would of won considering the number if pissed in balls made by Jason (in multiple games)... but in the last couple it was ridiculous. 3 piss ins in the last 2 games... This is what you get when you play a game that rewards these antics. Change pool for the better... QUIT SUPPORTING piss pool games. DEMAND Better for our sport. And you wonder why sponsors don't hang around. I'm a fan of both players btw but really who really likes to loose/ or win by wacking balls into the wrong hole???

'Luck' ...not the more consistent skill, seems to be the 'main stay winner' in most all bad structured games... like 'piss in' 9 ball. Make change happen so players will get the proper respect and sponsors/public can invest in more than just a flip of a coin.

You mean like football, no luck in football, right ? No Sponsors either I guess, lol

If you don't like 9-ball play a different game, 9-ball rules are what they have always
been and it's been the most played game for decades. Not counting the leagues playing 8-ball.

Football? When Did that become an individual sport? I'm talking playing a fair game of pool that doesn't give credit where it not warranted. Not Sure what your point is, but 9-ball "Decades ago" was a reasonably "good game". With the rule changes and different equipment of today its a bad excuse it even leave the house...(See the Turning Stone stands) And your right we all should choose a better option than TE 9-Ball for profession competition... Todays WPA 10-ball is great, Joe Tucker's American Rotation is an evenly matched game. Alternating Rack games like 9 ball, 11 ball and full rack banks is a fair match.... even Call shot 1P (ball on the break/ rerack) works.

You're right there are much better professional choices than todays 9 ball... it needs to be relegated back in the time warp to the smokey bar box holes it deserves to die in. Football...?? why not Tennis or Golf or hell, car racing... just saying .. its really a different money pool altogether isn't it?... not to many people have access to a race team or a football team to become better in that area.... but some can afford a pool table (or pool time) when they want to practice at this sport. For some people, I guess watching professional pool players WHACK at balls into the wrong hole is appealing ... not so much for me or prolly anyone else trying fade it *(corporate sponsors included). If there is a fix for it, 'I'm in'... 2 foul might work with some slight rule mods.... anything but piss pool...

But I get your point about nothing's going to change (especially with Tournament Moneys paying out for this mess)...and to just go play something else. I think thats a great idea.

John Morra you are a class act and one hell of a shot. Great showing

Sorry but Shaw did NOT out play Morra....The format did.

Johnny beat Jason 21-14... Romp him first round 9-1.
Format allowed Jason a second chance and didn't afford Johnny a second lose.

I thought John beat Jayson 9-8?

This means the aggregate was 21-20 to Jayson??

Ridiculous comment though considering it was a double knockout tourney?!?

John won the first 9-8 and I think that John earned the right
to be beaten twice. He got nothing for being underfeated to the final, that stinks but it's the format. I do not like it !!!!

I agree completely. I've never understood how you can win the winner's side and then be penalized by only having to play one set for the championship. STUPID!!!!!

was it "about 3:43" or was it, in fact, 3:43?

as for JM, what's not to love?

he is a classy kid and plays world class speed.

some tourneys are 'true double eliminations' and this one is not.

I don't think it's such a bad format that rewards a player for making the long journey through a very difficult b side.

it may be because I'm so used to seeing it, though.

Johnny and Jason winner side....Johnny 9-8 Jason to loser side
Jason wins (single elimination championship round) 9-8 With some very lucky rolls.

Both beat Mika 9-1

Johnny's break was a big help ball most breaks.
Jason mostly dry.

I think both guys are great players...But this time Morra was very good and in SUPER STROKE.
