Ok, I'm going to be in Pittsburgh for about a year. I'm going to be in the Plum area, close to Oakmont. I would like to find a place with nice Diamond tables close to that area. I would also like to get on a 9 ball APA league.

I checked out Breakers in Delmont 2 weeks ago. Room was great, but parking was terrible. I may play a league out of there though.

I don't mind traveling for league, but would really like to find a place close to Plum/Monroeville with Diamonds for play throughout the week.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Breakers billiards, paul motteys joint.
Dont know if there is any other options available.
Good luck.

Edit.
Oh. Never mind, you went there already.

Any place that allows concealed.

Restricting you requirements to only places with Diamonds is gonna severely hinder your choices.

Been a little bit since I've been there so unsure if still open and cant remember the name but there was a fairly large ( prob at least 20 GC's ) on right on Carson in South Side. Decent place and has been packed everytime there. South Side is tons of fun too!

PS - Oakmont Tavern is usually a good time on Fri/Sat

If the place your talking about on the South Side is 'Shootz cafe', im pretty sure its been closed for awhile...

Not many places in the burg with Diamonds..

Paul Motteys place, Breakers, is a nice place, but he had his Diamonds made to pay like Brunswicks (I have no idea why, but youll notice when you play on em).. Almost every pro that plays on them *****es about it, but it is what it is....

I have 3 Diamonds, but im about an hour or a little more north of Plum/Monroeville..

Good luck..

Thanks for all the input. I have been lucky to play the last few years at one of the best places in the US to play pool. (Breakaway's in Waynesboro) So it will be tough going back to Valley tables if I have to.

Does anyone know if Steel City Billiards is still up and running. Also years ago, there was a place (Pinky's??) in Turtle Creek. Is that still there as well?

Thanks for all the info.
Chris

Steel City has closed unfortunately, Shane is a great guy.

You're right, Pinky's is in Turtle Creek. I've never been there myself but understand some of the better players have been going there.

Pinky's is still open. Rather, I think they closed for a time and have since reopened or changed ownership or some such. They run a 9b tournament every saturday at 7 or 730, with some really good competition.
