Ideas for a jump/break cue

I'm looking for a jump break cue and I'd like some suggest as to where to look please. My plan so far is to get a Players jump break that costs about $200 but I'd like some else at roughly the same price. Another option was a Hightower jump break for about $275 that's just about the price range I'm looking for but its not easy to find different sellers out there. Can anyone provide me with some options? Please and thanks

I think the two best deals in jump/break cues are the J&J ($80) and the Gilbert ($450). So yeah, two very different ends of the spectrum, but the J&J is quite the cue for the money and I don't know that I'd spend more than that until I got up to a Gilbert jump/break, which is a phenomenal cue. The rest of the production jump/breaks just don't do anything for me and don't seem to offer much above the J&J.

Just buy a Alex Brick and be done with it. You won't need another the rest of your life. Brian.

The pure X are great I changed too the poison BRK its great for breaking and jumping

I asked Alex about his cues and he said he isn't taking orders anymore. He said that he is making what he wants then selling those so I'm out of luck there

Tony Layne is making diamond wood jump breaks. $100 deposit and he's backed up 2-3 months. You can find him on facebook.

I have one on order just waiting for it to be built

Or you could buy a separate jump cue and buy a Purple Heart shaft for any butt and make it a brek cue.

I just traded a cue for a Scott Erwin purple hear break cue and it hits like a hammer. Spreads the balls Nicley with little effort.

If you have a extra butt your not using you can buy a Purple Heart break shaft for $150 from Erwin

How much in total does his dymondwood JBs cost? And I did find a Tony Layne Pool Cues page on Facebook but it's almost completely blank

If it has to be a jump/break might as well go cheap... In testing I have yet to find one that jumps as well as a dedicated jumper regardless of what you have read... Most break fine not Mezz, Predator or OB good... but fine and will stroke jump as long as you have distance or are jumping half balls but forgot about dart jumping or jumping much with finesse... The technology that makes a good break cue doesn't really make for a good jump cue... They are 2 different animals....

I really appreciate that there's someone with this opinion out there as I've heard similar things as well.
So why are jump cues so different from jump/breaks? couldn't I just get a dart handle for my break shaft or my jump/break shaft to get that finesse you're speaking of?

My Players HXT Jump/Break works good as both. It seems to jump really goodl and it breaks ok. On the break it takes lots of practice on controlling the cue ball.

So for those of you who have posted or are curious. Tony Layne's Dymondwood junp/break cue are selling for $450 and he is indeed backed up. That however is too expensive for me. I'm looking for something less expensive but still worth the cost

Selling by who for $450?

Mine was not that much and I just placed a order for it a couple weeks ago.

However a day or two after I placed my order some jackass posted a new one he just for for sale for $450 and it sold due to no wait time. So it's possible he may have went up in his pricing.

On another note I have heard nothing bad about them from anyone that's used one. Which is why I ordered one

Being sold by Tony Layne himself. I was talking to him about an hour ago and he quoted me $450 plus shipping fees

Well you can Prob thank a couple people for that. Because he was selling for $365 shipped. But then someone gets one and doesn't even use and lists it for $450 just to make money he's gonna raise his prices. That sucks. I was going to order another one here in a couple weeks to put up either for myself later on or for my son.

Yeah im quite disappointed that it's beyond my price range. I may end up going for the high tower JB unless some can make a case of getting separate dedicated jump and breaks cues.
