Explain the Change of Venue for the Hopkins Show

I just pulled the statement from the "Recollection Cues" Website and it state that the change in venue for the SBE was driven by some antics posed from the NJ Tax authorities. Can anyone expound on this or knows how this posed a problem for the vendors.

BTW: I am glad for the change since the new location is closer to my home.


HOPKINS SHOW

The Allen Hopkins Super Billiards Expo is always the highlight of the cue year. This year will be no exception. The show will be back at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania after a couple of years in New Jersey. This will be a welcome change after the Gestapo-like tactics of the New Jersey tax authorities last year, goose-stepping their way around the Exhibit area, intimidating vendors and the show management. If Allen had not moved the show, he would have lost a significant number of his regular exhibitors.

That statement says much right there. Allen probably had enuff complaints from Vendors alone.

As in, I won't be back next year if I am going to be shaken down like this.

Obviously this type of news gets around quick, to other potential vendors that may have
gone in the future also.

It may not be the only factor in moving, but a contributing one that was of obvious concern.

Without knowing any details I can just imagine how they could make it bad for the venders. They would enforce sales tax probably. I know there are taxes as high as 28% on the sale of collectables in some instances.

Imagine selling a $10,000.00 Balabushka cue and being told you owe $2000.00 in tax. Who knows what they were going to the vendors.
