My Stats Against the Ghost

Okay guys, over the summer I'll be back in Illinois and my sisters league mates want me to play with them. There team consists of an 8, a 7, two 5s, and two 2s I think. I remember a while back that I asked what you guys thought my speed was and I was told to play the ghost in 9-ball and see where I'm at.

I played the ghost earlier today and these were my stats:

5-ball ghost: I won 5-0 in a race to 5.
6-ball ghost: I won 7-3 in a race to 7.
7-ball ghost: He won 7-4 in a race to 7.
8-ball ghost: He won 9-3 in a race to 9.
9-ball ghost: He won 9-2 in a race to 9.

These are also my average stats and not just a one-day, one-time thing. This was also done on a 9-footer with I'd say medium-loose pockets (two balls will fit pretty snug in the pockets with little to no lead-way room).

I suspect that these would all be higher on a 7-footer as well which is what the APA league tends to play on. My guess is on Diamonds I would go up decently, and on Valleys I'd go up significantly.

What do you guys think?

Just completed this one a few minutes ago, the Joe Tucker 10-ball rating. Rack up 10 racks of 10-ball, and count how many balls you've pocketed after 10 racks.

If you miss, the rack is over, balls on the break count, and if you scratch you take a -2 balls deficit.

At the end of 10 racks my score was 63. (had 2 10-ball run outs so that helped a bit).

63, according to that system puts me at A+ which I think might be skewed a little.

Hang-the-9, I'm more inclined to agree with your answer.

If you are an A you'd know it LOL. Easy way to find out, ask the people you often play with, assuming they have some knowledge of ratings.

Is there a guy that is top in your pool room or league? Chances are he's an A unless it's a particularly strong pool room like Snookers where you have a bunch of A+ and A++ players. Can you beat him? If not, you're a B

Where I play at lol... you pick 10 people and at least 7 of them are As, at least 5 are A++. Sometimes I get on the table with semi-pro caliber players (according to their numerical rating over at least 400 games they're rated as semi-pro).

I get told different things, some guys say high B, some say borderline A. If I catch a gear then I'd say A, but on regular days probably a higher level B.

All I care about is that I am improving.

For what it's worth, I'm about 50% against the 9 ball ghost on an average 9 foot table. I think I am a solid A, and that seems to be the consensus on me around where I play. The stats you mentioned to me sound like a mid B. If you are *averaging* 63 on that Joe Tucker drill, you might be closer to an A.

Just my $0.02
