A guy gave me this starcraft two piece to repair. The treads have striped in the shaft there is no insert just wood. would you put an insert or over size the hole and fill with epoxy than drill and tap? sorry the pic is blurry I took it with my phone

what is that thread???? looks like a 3/8-14......

Plug the hole with a piece of phenolic and tap that....... it won't strip out

If the thread is 5/16-14 or 5/16-18 put in a brass insert

Well, it IS a StarCraft after all! :D
Just teasing, but I agree with Kim's fixes.
There IS an assumption that it is a standard thread of some size. If not, you won't be able to tap the shaft after plugging. If that is the case, the correct solution will be to pull the pin and replace it, as well as repair the threads in the shaft.
My 2 cents

I didn't have a good thread gadge so I brought it with me to Home depot it will only screw into a 8 x1.25 but feels a little loose.
