Question on breaking from headstring center on a valley table. How do I keep it from coming back to the head rail? Everything I seem to practice brings it back or scratches in the side. Thanks in advance. PS the search led so many different ways

for 8b one way would be to slightly elevate the back of your cue and strike whitey a half tip above center ball.

Break softer until you learn to control it. Most likely you are trying to break too hard and hitting the cue somewhere other than where you are aiming.
