OK it appears that they are using a 2" Ball set with a 1 7/8" Cueball because of tradition.... I am wondering who makes the official ball as I do not see a 2" set on Aramith's website but then again I may have looked in the wrong place....

Actually found them after more digging now I just would like confirmation that this is what is officially used?

And does Chinese 8ball use the small balls as well or is that played with regular 2 1/4" Yes I will keep digging but these 2 cuesports are not in my wheel house.....

ALL levels of English 8 Ball, above pub league, use the Aramith Pro Cup balls. 2" object ball with a 1 7/8" white ball.

I have a six month old set I would let go for £45 (including courier delivery) to someone in the UK. £40 plus whatever the shipping is to anyone outside the UK.

I believe you, but why, oh why? So 8-ball can be played on snooker tables?
These balls won't work on tables designed for 2 1/4" balls. The rails are too high for proper banking.

Why is the cue ball smaller than the object balls? Must be difficult to play follow on that cloth

On coin-op tables the cue ball is smaller than the object balls so that it comes back out when the others stay down. This "convention" has been retained for non coin-op tables. "English" pool is a pub game and nothing more, despite "World" rules and championships.

They have bunch of crazy rules like
- you get 2 shots on the black if your oppoonent fouls. No BIH
- no cushion contact is ok
-deliberate foul not allowed
-every pot can be slop fuke. No call pocket
:grin-square:
