It's probably been asked before but here we go I'd like an opinion on wearing a glove for playing pool is it just for looks thanks.

I can't imagine anyone wearing a pool glove for looks. In fact I'd say there would have to be some pretty concrete benefits to get just about anyone in a glove...

I don't wear one but I'd imagine it helps with sweaty hands, and provides a consistent feel to your stroke all while impressing the ladies ;)

Even when my hands and fingers were chafed and cracked from working with chemicals in my line of work, I never considered wearing a glove........let alone for appearance sake.
My gosh, the next step would be color coordinating one's pool glove with their attire for the pool room.....are people really that vain?

What's that great scene in the Hustler........

Fast Eddie: The pool game is over when Fats says it's over... I came after him and I'm gonna get him. I'm going with him all the way.

Fast Eddie: No bar?

Cashier: No bar, no pinball machines, no bowling alleys, just pool... nothing else. This is Ames, mister.

Wearing a glove for looks? ......I don't think so.........I'm more interested in playing my best and never give a second thought to my wardrobe or how I look when I shoot pool.

I frequently play league matches and local tournaments in bars without air conditioning. In the middle of summer, when it gets mighty humid, my hands get too sticky to keep running to the men's room to wash them. At those times, I wear a glove. All other times, I don't wear one.

Boxers wear gloves....do yourself a favor...
....don't call them sissies.

pool

I don't wear one never will just wondered why if it's not for looks must be for sweaty hands what else is there.

I wear a glove when it's humid and I'm sweating because I hate powder. That being said I hate the look of gloves.

I was always " I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a glove. " until I tried one.

Some, I liked better than others. Nick Varner's was my preferred glove until I tried the finger slides. Now these are what I use. You can still feel the cloth on your palm, and they seem to last longer than any of the gloves. Most of the gloves are nylon, or spandex, and for me, they were to thin, and the seams would separate with time(2 months).

Stop worrying about how others perceive it looks, focus on whether this can help you improve your game.

I like the glove, but they don't last long when I chop off the tips so I can still feel the table. If it wasn't for that reason, I'd wear a glove. The finger-less high quality gloves only come in lefty, and I need one for my right bridge hand.

Switching to a glove was one of the best decisions I have made for my game. A glove allows the cue to glide effortlessly without needing to use powder or washing your hands. It also adds to your consistency, which we all need a little bit more of :)

I used to carry a white micro fiber towel on my case and I would wet it and wring it out before matches. Using the towel to clean my hands throughout a match worked better for me than powder or gloves. The towel actually wasn't white. Started out that way, but before long it turned blue.

I don't carry a towel anymore but I do keep powder and a glove in my case. I use the glove every now and then and very seldom use the powder.

Not only can one color coordinate with one's attire or the table's cloth, they also give you added support for all your other crazy shit. Additionally, they provide excellent protection from nasty splinters should you inadvertently break your cue over the referee's head.

I never used a glove thought it looked funny. till I was at a room and there was no chalk to put on my hands. the stick started sticking to my fingers. I paid the $12 for one out the case. I always use it now . I only wish I would have bought the one that covered my hole finger . when I curl my finger around the cue it some times sticks on my finger tip thats sticking out the glove.

Indeed it has been asked before. Wear one of these. :)
