Pool

I don't wear one, but a glove will be more resistant to humidity changes in the air or on your hand, so it would add some consistency. But unless your hands sweat ridiculously or play near a pro level, not sure wearing one is worth the ridicule :-) When stronger gloveless players consistently whoop on you, not sure that's a pool we want to be in....wearing the glove while losing hehe.

I wear one and love it for one single reason - consistency.

The stick ALWAYS glides the same across the glove no matter the weather or your "pressure". Once I started wearing a glove the friction between my hand and stick never again entered my mind while I was doing practice strokes as it did before. Now all I am concentrating on are the things I should be concentrating on, the speed and aim.

No cue sticking to the skin, keep a tight bridge loop no problem.

Used the pro series for about a year found as said b4 seams came apart at the tips slide a bit on the cloth with certain bridges.
Found the Nick Varner style with tips already open much better. I like to try the finger slide if given the opportunity.

It's probably been asked before but here we go I'd like an opinion on wearing a glove for playing pool is it just for looks thanks.

Yup. Just for looks. I can't imagine any other reason. Could you?

Freddie <~~~ will buy anything for looks

I have mentioned this before, I have arthritis in my left hand. The glove keeps the hand warm and there is a small amount of compression which seems to help with the pain. When I try to play without it, I realize how much friction there is between the skin and the shaft which is virtually eliminated with a glove. I won't leave home without it.

I tried Isotoner gloves which I loved but they were way to thick.

PS - I only wear black gloves with no glitter or sparkles.

I usually carry 2 pool gloves but seldom use either, I've given lots away to players that were using house sticks.
Back before I quit playing about 1997-8, I never saw anyone use a glove.
When I started playing again in 2012, lots of players were using them so I ordered some.
A few weeks later, I wore a blister on the inside of my grip thumb so I put one on each hand until the blister went away.

I haven't been playing much this month do to yard work but I wore another blister on the inside of my grip thumb digging out dandelions :( Should have wore my gloves :)

Now every time I close my eyes, I see dandelions :( :(

I see nothing wrong with wearing a glove if it helps. I can't seem to get comfortable with a glove. It just seems foreign in my hand, like I want to shake it off. :)

But ... your post gave me a great idea. I also have arthritis in my hands. Recently we bought a car that had something I thought was merely a novelty. It was a heated steering wheel. I use it all the time now as it really helps relieve the pain.

How about a heated pool cue? when you drill out the shaft for the heating element, it might even lighten the cue and make it super low deflection .. Anyway ... no kidding ... it will evaporate the sweat too.

Don't tell CJ about this ... he'll steal my idea.

How about a heated pool cue?

Or maybe a pool cue heater that functions as a stand. Set it in place when not shooting and always have a nice warm cue to shoot with. Of course, you would have to shoot fast or reheat during your inning while looking over the table.

while I try to go without the glove at times, with the recent rains the humidity is high therefore cue shaft is "sticky" so I wear the glove before the night is over. . I recently changed from a predator glove because the quality seemed to have "tanked". just purchased a "longoni" (a little pricey) and way more happy with it's quality. you get what you pay for.......
