He shoots, he scores. Just picked up a Brunswick Master Stroke cue for a cool $115.00. Looks to be from the 1950's.

The cue is similar to the Willie Hoppe Pro Model, leather wrap, full splice, just no veneers.

Gonna pimp this one out to look like new. I hope Darren Hill is around to do the work. He did my WH Pro Model, and it was friggin perfect ;)

Gonna have him take down the butt to make it lighter and similar size to today's cues. Possible new joint, maybe 3/8-10 pin to match all my OB shafts. Get a replacement decal and first class refinish. I'm not going with leather though....

My WH pro Model has leather, I want to have a cue to play with in the summer, so going to see if he can find some white w/ green speck Cortland.

My Oak Master Stroke actually plays better then any of my Hoppe's. I am not sure if I have ever missed a ball with this fat butt cue.
I could never pimp mine because its too pristine. Definitely fun to take off the wall now and then and " serve a little tea":cool:

Yeah, I hear ya. If this thing was in decent shape, I would not touch it. But since its kinda beat up, gonna make here look real purty ;)

I cant wait to see the remodel. I will post pics of mine when you get yours done.

I have a solid collection of vintage Brunswick Oak cues and they look and play great.

I have one. Does yours have the big house cue bumper? They are actually just house cues. The sold for about $17.00 when new. If you have the old Mosconi book he is using one for demonstration. If you are going to redo it you have to be sure to preserve the decal. Otherwise it will just look like a sneaky pete. I should add, I played with mine for a time. I bought it off the first owner in the pool room a zillion years ago. It was my bar playing cue. I think the only reason I still have it was it was not worth enough to sell so it ended up in a closet forever.

I dunno know. I just bought it a few hours ago. Should arrive in a few days. Just like my Hoppe Pro Model, I'm gonna buy a new decal, think they are around $30 and send to Darren Hill (cue maker). And I'm gonna have him throw on a matching OB shaft. Old school meets New School.

They seem like they should be worth more, they are very rare.

You got me thinking and I dug out the cue. I have not looked at it in a good 20 years. I played on the bar table with the big ball with this cue. Boy I won a ton of money with this cue, I beat one guy alone for like $30,000 over several months using this cue.

The other cue in the picture is an old Rambow. I forgot I even owned that cue they were both stored in the same box. The Rambow cue was butchered though years ago, someone put a SS joint on it. It's probably worth nothing. Sorry the pictures are so bad, the cats kept jumping on them and I had to do it quick.

Yeah, the Hoppe Pro model prices have really increased, I'm sure the Master Strokes will be begin following suit.

I think the prices on these old cues can only keep going up, as they say, they are not making any more of them. I just like them cause they are part of history, the wood is great, and if the butt has not warped by now, it's not gonna ;) And if it did, the person refinishing can fix that when he takes down the handle a little as well. be like brand new.

Well, if you wanna ever sell that Frankenstein Rambow, I'd still be interested ;)

Someone actually gave me that cue. It belonged to a guy who played in my pool room. When he died I contacted his wife to let her know I had Don's pool cue and would bring it over.

She told me she would not know what to do with it and he always liked me and my pool room and she said to just keep it. I remember when the cue got ruined. He wanted a new shaft and the guy he gave it to damaged the joint somehow and replaced it with SS like he was doing him a favor.

Great cue, you didn't go wrong picking up the Master Stroke...

I found a Master Stroke last year on eBay, it was in really great shape, straight, tight joint, needed little clean up, it hits like a dream.

I found your sale on ebay. The guy does not look like he sell cues or billiard stuff. The shipping is too cheap. I would get his contact info and call the guy
To be sure he ships it correctly even if you pay a little more.

Actually, the shipping was on the high end $26. He had it up for $150 as buy it now. After a little back and forth, got it for $115 plus shipping.

I will remind him to pack it well. Not worried about warpage, but rather it not get broken.

I bought a WH pro model a few months back, but it never made it. The guy refunded me the money. He did not pay for tracking... kinda bummed on that one. I was gonna keep that one original, thus I'd have two, one original and one modified.
