need advice regarding southwest cue

Hello everyone,
I need your advice: I have been out of the game for a about 3 years and, after 13 years, I got an email from Southwest cues that I am up on the list. I am not even sure how the playability and demand has been for thrm. Anyway, the choices I have now is as follow and not sure what is the best to pick:
1) get the cue I wanted before made and sell it after if I don't like it.
2) sell my spot (if that is even possible) and have someone who really wanted the cue they dreamed of made.

I am sure you will get lots of offers to buy your spot. That is how I got mine years ago. I bought another guys spot. I'll buy yours if I can afford it.

So, what is the cost these days to buy a SW when someone is on the list. Do they give you a "standard" price before you pimp it out ??
 
I would sell the spot , no telling if you could make a profit on a cue that was designed "how you like it".

buy the cue,they play great and go up in value
at least they always have
 
get it made and then sell it, the cue market is BOOMING, just sell it before you get that "southwest roll".

I sent you 2 PM's. One lists what I have, and that is more than what I got about 5 months ago. You can do it as long as you just accept the offer for facilitating and being a "middle man" and communicating with Laurie about the build. I've "sold" 4 in the past 10 years.... But unfortunately I actually need a SW now. My wife just beat cancer for the 7th time. ( not a woe is me). But I want to get her one as a gift for being the AMAZINGLY strong woman that she is. I shoot with a custom I had made specifically for me, so I DONT WANT IT FOR ME, nor do I for investment... It's her dream stick.

So, nobody knows how much a SW costs new from the "factory" ? Is this some kind of top secret? Is it "bad form" to discuss prices for cues ?

That's a SW rule. I can't believe folks here do not want to talk about it. SW does not like folks to sell their spots either, but for some reason folks can talk about that here.

Why is it such a secret, surely someone knows the cost of a cue from a cue maker.
 
No one talks about it because it changes often. Options change, materials change.. mostly in the low 2's or high 2's could even get into the high 3's. Its not something you can nail down precisely because there is a lot that goes into it.

We are talking about a basic cue. They typical SW design, the plain looking ones with a few rings. Nothing fancy, no inlays. I'm sure they have a starting point, just like many tip tier cue makers.

So based on your take, it's around $2K maybe ??

Hmmmm ... I talked to Laurie a while back about buying a spot from someone and se had no problem with it.

Did their policy change Dean??
