1 minut spinning cueball

I was goofing around a bit and came up with this shot.
I was wondering how long a cueball could spin. With a carom ball it is easier I guess because carom balls are more massive. But maybe I am wrong.

It is also a great exercise controlling the cueball. I find it harder to play a deadweight stopshot with side spin than without. Especially when you play it with power.

That was pretty neat. You hit that shot with a lot of power. Did you miscue any before you got it right?
 
Well, MartinvanRhee, right off the bat I'd say you have a lot more time on your hands than you should.
Regardless of that, welcome to the forum. If you can't learn all there is to know about pool here, then you're asking the wrong questions.
Be sure and sign up for next Friday's field trip. Mr. Howerton is taking us to the San Diego Zoo (that's in San Diego) to see a baboon that always wears a cap and gown. Some folks say he looks like PJ, but I don't believe it. :)
 
Yes, I had some miscues.. sometimes I hit it too low and made a total drawshot by accident.. With a lot of spin hahaha.
It took me several minutes.
 
It is a pool ferrule.. but a normal one as far as I know. I bought it in the shape it was and still is. The tip is a 12 mm "diamond"
 
Pretty cool trick. I bet you have no problem spinning it around the table.

Ummm, how much TOI did you use?

Used to be a trick shot player called "Farmer" who did that with a pool ball. What was amazing was how hard he would hit it yet keep the ball in the one spot. It would hardly move more then half an inch.

this is what I was about to ask, actually, on the ball or cloth.

I have a friend from here in CT named Mike Jackson. He played one session with the pro trick shot guys.

We went together to sbe a few years and the one year when he was looking to join the trick guys, we went to their dedicated room and they were allowing anyone who wanted to try a chance at beating the established world records for 2 shots, the one handed jump (height) and how long can you get the cue ball to spin *after potting a ball*.

The record holder was Jason Lynch aka The Michigan Kid, pretty sure it was right around 30 seconds.

My buddy, who they ended up calling Mike "The Hammer" Jackson was eager to show off his stroke and he took his turn; 3 attempts for $10.

He now holds the #2 spot for that record at 27 seconds. :thumbup:

If the op did his shot without silicone or similar, that is mighty impressive.

Brian, I remember watching several videos on Eric Yow, (The Preacher).

Along with his rolling dealer case, if I remember, a spray can of Silicone is a part of every tricksters equipment.

Eric hasn't been around AZ for many years now either. Well, he used to pop in when he had a sale on his line of masse cues.
 
When I was messing around trying to figure out back-hand-English, I did some of the spinning stop shots. I can only hit it consistently with bhe, otherwise I miss the shot.
 
I don't know what toi or bhe means (I am Dutch) but I guess some kind of silicone.
The truth is I use older balls (they are so expensive) so I use some silicone. Lot of burn marks on the ball!
But the cueball is spinning at one single point so I think you win only a few seconds with that.
Another problem on my not heated table (not working) is that I am an artistic billiard player so my cloth is full of burnmarks. If the cueball is stuck in one of those it cost seconds. The friction is much more. You can see it in the video, the ball is dancing in the beginning.
 
Bhe is a means of aiming and applying sidespin. There are threads that define it better than I could, but for me it's the only way to reliably pocket balls when hitting the cueball so far off center.
 
I've done same with pool cloth without silicone and can say for sure nobody shoots over 35 seconds if Simonis 860 is used. I get it around 30 second easily but there goes limit if not tricks used. Heated table and silicone are adding a ton time on that shot. Never tried that carom table but those clothes are so slick 1 minute does seem quite possible. I also learned shot when I was fooling with backhand English.

Am I the only one who knows that that is a 3 cushion table and that the felt slides a lot more? It would be harder on a pool table but its been done.
