Opportunity missed to play with Orcollo

Last week Efren, Orcollo, Carlo were hustling in my club. Orcollo came over to my table and asked for money match 9 ball race to 9. I declined assuming he won't play for less than $ 500 and it would be disrespect for him to ask for $50/100 match. (This is amount I was willing to watch him play as I have no chance against him unless he had to triple bank 9:) ).

In hindsight I feel I should have asked for it specially after someone told me he played for 50 bucks earlier on :(

Yeah, that's tough. I think I'd have gone with, "I can really only afford to lose $50 or so and I don't know if you'd want to play that cheap?" That seems respectful and leaves the decision with him. Like you, I wouldn't want to bet more than that either, but if he was game I'd donate $50-100 for the opportunity to play Orcollo.

I couldn't say 50 even after he said lets play cheap :) I assumed his cheap would still be 200/300. sigh!

I've played Efren even up a couple $50 dollar sets before and he seemed more than happy to play. To him I guess it's just free, easy money. What's not to like, really? It seemed like he almost preferred that over playing higher stakes with nitty gambles who keep insisting on getting huge weight.

I am curious where your club is located at? How often do you see these top pro's in your club? I am sad because I never had the opportunity to even get to watch the top pro's play yet. Would love to play some really cheap sets with Orcollo though. I wonder if he would give me (an average B player) the last 5 and the breaks for $50 a set, lol. I assume he would, considering that $50 a set would be like playing for fun to him.

Perhaps they know people appreciate the opportunity to play them even in a losing cause and are nice enough to create a memory for players for a reasonable cost. Sort of like an exhibition or a pro-am sporting event. As some said, it worth a certain amount to watch them play so close up.

It is in Singapore. They are here for SEA games. This is the first time I have seen them. But our local pro Aloysius Yapp plays here all the time.

Chezka Centeno from the Philippines just won her semifinal match. This was the first time I've seen this teenager (15?) play; looks like she's going to be (already is!) a real good one.

I'm afraid you're giving these guys way too much credit.

That was an interesting match. The other girl had her 5-2, then made some very costly and unforced errors. Centeno played well to take the last 5 games and the match.

These are 3 of the nicest guys you'll meet in a pool room. Next time ask for the 6 ball and bet $50. Unless you're a pro, you won't have a chance but it may provide a little fun.
